We had the displeasure of visiting this awful beach bar owned by an old, grumpy man who clearly has no idea how to treat his customers with respect. He was extremely rude and threatened to kick us out simply because we didn't want to sit on his overpriced umbrellas, which he has covered all over the public beach. The nerve of this man forcing people to pay for showers and even to use the toilet, when the beach is clearly meant to be a public space!

To add to the misery of this experience, the beach itself is rocky and often has dangerous waves (with no safety flags or lifeguards in sight!). Although I will reluctantly admit that the beach can be quite nice on a good day, it's clear that the only thing that this owner cares about is taking advantage of unsuspecting tourists for every penny he can wring out of them.

Overall, I would highly advise against ever visiting this beach bar, for your own safety and for the sake of your wallet. The old owner is clearly in need of a lesson in customer service...

Spilies Beach is very nice. It has a nice view. It's easy to relax here. The water is very clean and crystal clear. It has a few rocks but they are not much of a problem because the water gets deep very fast. That makes it very nice to swim, but it would be a bit hard to come here with little children. The ground has in the beginning rocks, which can be very hot at day, but then you can find sand at the shoreline. There are some big rock formations and the right rock has a cave underneath it, that is half submerged under water. It can be a bit dangerous to swim there, if there are waves. But you can climb smaller rocks that are also in the right side, they lead to a little nice open cave in there. You can also find many fossils in these rocks! They are very old and cool! The signal here is very weak though. You might have a hard time connecting to the internet if...

Lovely little bay with a cave tunnel in the sea to the right, popular with cliff jumpers on both sides. Well organised little beach with thatched sun umbrellas and pergolas. Beach bar to the left and tavern to the right, very good food and the service was very quick. The beach is quite stoney and gets deep very quickly. There are some little fish that bite you in the water! Especially if you have insect bites or thread veins they seem to target those areas! Nothing serious but just uncomfortable little shocks every now and then. Gets busy so best to get there by 11am if you want easy parking and to sit under...

Spilies Beach A stunning little beach tucked away just off the main road. We arrived early and managed to enjoy it before it got too crowded. The beach sits between two large cliffs, with a spacious cave that provides some shade. For the adventurous, you can climb the rock and jump into the sea from various heights! There's also a small beach bar, so part of the area is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. We only visited once during our holiday, and unfortunately, the water was a bit murky that day, I can't say if that's always the case. However, it’s definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Spilies Beach, often referred to as "Wave Beach," is a hidden gem on the northern coast of Crete. The beach is known for its crystal-clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and naturally occurring sea caves, providing an idyllic setting for relaxation and exploration. While the waves can get quite strong, making it a thrilling spot for more adventurous swimmers, it's not the best choice for families with young children. Amenities are limited, so bring your own snacks and water. Overall, Spilies Beach offers a tranquil, less touristy experience for those looking to escape the crowds.
