Our family of 3 had heard about this walk online. We did it from Lindos bay car park (look for the sign on the way down, and follow the path round to the left past the monument to Ioanni Zigdis, and keep going past the rocks on your left!) and it took us about 1 hour each way. We weren't going fast, as we were hunting for lizards etc on the path. The path is flat until the final knoll and usually easy to follow - if in doubt you generally look for the ruined windmill and head directly towards it, - but there are some places where the path is fainter. There are some loose rocky or stony bits underfoot in places, but most of the path is visible beaten earth, with a little bit of very easy up and down very small rocky ledges. It's not dangerous as long as children are over 5 years old - the path is always well away from the small cliff above the bay - but good walking shoes or at least decent trainers are essential. A sprained ankle would spoil your day. A good idea is to go onto Google maps website before you start, choose the "satellite" mode, type in "Kleoboulos tomb", then zoom in maximum. The path is visible from the satellite almost all the way. Watch out for the occasional fierce-looking goat! In case you don't know, Kleoboulos was a native of Lindos who became a famed poet and sage. When he died his career came to an abrupt end. He couldn't compose any more, so he decided to decompose instead. Not many people know that. His statue is above Lindos village on the left at the top of the road leading down to Lindos from the bus stop. My wife and 12-year old daughter refused to go further than the ruined windmill near the final small hill up to his tomb, and stayed in the shade. There are good photogenic views across Lindos bay to Lindos village and the famed acropolis, so take your camera and good walking shoes along with plenty of water. It would make an excellent spot for photos at both sunrise and sunset if you time it right. The only refreshment stops are at Lindos main bay. I think it must be around two miles each way approximately - and a bit less to the windmill. It's a nice walk, and a good way to escape the madding crowds in Lindos! We enjoyed it and it's not too taxing. About a dozen or so others were on the path on the October...

· Struttura: È costruito interamente in pietra calcarea locale.

Perché è Associato a Cleobulo?

In Sintesi

I was hesitant at first but it turned out better than I expected. I cannot stress it enough that you need water and DON'T attempt to do it in the afternoon you will literally die.

Keep in mind that you must be prepared to jump like a goat for approx 40 minutes until you get to the tomb.

All in all the views you get along the way are nothing short of amazing. I haven't travelled that much, but the view of the two islands that are opposite to the tomb was literally the most breathtaking moment of my life up until now and pictures can't even get close to what it feels like looking to the horizon and the Mediterranean sea in person ( Yes even my P30...

I highly recommend this little hike. It was a perfect walk for the early evening. We saw gentle wildlife like harmless snakes and goats, flora was also interesting. Take water, suncream and decent foot wear. About 1 hour each way if you take time to enjoy excellent views. The grave was definitely renewed at some point, thus there is nothing much to see, history of the place is phantastic, if you are into ancient history!I highly recommend it, it is a nice change to the crowded tourist beaches, relaxed walking and stunning photo options.

One of the highlights in visiting Lindos was this walk to visit the Tomb of Cleobulus. Cleobulus was a Greek poet and a native of Lindos in the 6th century BCE. I passed perhaps 3 people on the walk which is perfect getting away from the noise & crowds of Lindos. Stunning views over the various bays and surrounding land & sea. Use the Maps Me app for the exact trail and follow the red dots. Take a hat, sensible walking shoes, water + suncream as there isn't much shade. Allow approximately 40 minutes (from Lindos) each way.
