Itanos The 3000 year old ancient town of Itanos was visitied by the Romans, Egypts although only ruins now it was a famous harbor once. At least two beaches to spend a day. If archeology is your thing, Crete is the place to be. There are archeological sites everywhere , Minoan and other eras.

A small stone house type structure still has some walls up with some windows, door frames and what looks like a chimney and perhaps oven in one set of rooms. There is a ruin of an old church near by it. Historically it was a major port city through ancient times and it controlled much of the coastline on the eastern side of the island of Crete.
