Vai Palm Forest — Attraction in Municipality of Sitia

Excellent awesome beach! Probably one of the best beach in Crete, if not in top 3 for sure! Subbed available, parking (3€), Wi-Fi, restaurant, takeaway, everything is there. Road to Vai beach may seem long but it’s great! We almost liked the driving (~2h) till the beach as much as the beach itself! If there are no sun beds available, you may find yourself under the beautiful palms that are surrounding the beach. Don’t forget to pack everything you need for snorkeling. It’s by far the best beach for fish watching. Clear water and a lot of fishes are to be found near the rocks. Because of the bad reviews, we went at this beach, in the last days of our journey in Crete, but I would have for sure visited again and again. On our next trip it will be one of the first choices:) Before this beach I’ve seen Elafonisi, Balos, Preveli, Voulisima, Agios Nikolaos, Matala, and some other small beaches in south. One of the prettiest and most popular Kreta's Beach. Vai Beach - famous for its unique palm forest, which is the largest natural palm forest in Europe( 250 acres, under the patronage of Unesco). One of the most beautiful places in Eastern Crete. On the way there we had seen incredibly beautiful views from mountains. There are palms on the actual sandy beach. You can go on the mountain near beach for beautiful views and selfies. But I think this place is great for snorkeling than for swimming (in the water there are a lot of stones, that is not very comfortable when you swim).
