A huge beach about 7-10km long and we walked there and back along it all. Lovely beach and not very busy even in August. Seemed to be more locals than tourists. Traditional tavernas and like stepping back in time.
Was sad though to see the many bars so empty on a sunny high season afternoon and hope people come back soon as this place deserves a lot more tourism.
Must be longest stretch of beach in Lesvos.
Most bars advertise their beds and umbrellas are free.
Couple supermarkets along the beach for snacks and cold drinks.
Easy to park right along the beach-side in the shade of the trees.

Read moreCome every summer to Vatera for a few days just for the great pebble and sand beach HOWEVER this year (2024) we were in a suprise since most of the beach is rocky now and the main beach bars have even added white sacks filled with sand in the sea for people to walk on as they enter or exit the waters. Hopefully the beach will return to its great regular self next year....
