We’ve just returned from 10 incredible nights and had such a wonderful time that we’ve already booked to come back next July!||Things we loved:||We stayed in room 406, a Junior Suite with Private Pool. Some reviewers have mentioned that the pools don’t always get full sun because of the canopy-style design, and that’s true – but it actually worked brilliantly for us. The patio still had sunshine from around 10am until 6pm, with the best hours between midday and 4/5pm. Perfect for me (ginger and Scottish!) who doesn’t need to roast all day, but if you want full-on sunshine, the main pool has plenty of loungers.||The rooms themselves are gorgeous – finished to a very high standard, with comfy beds, powerful air-con (just keep that patio door shut), and the dream double rain shower. The toiletries smell divine, the minibar is topped up every two days, and you’ll find robes, slippers, and a steady supply of fresh towels waiting for you. Beach towels can be swapped daily at the spa, which is so handy.||One of my absolute highlights was hiring a beach gazebo. For €50 (small) or €90 (large) you get your own private shaded spot with luxury loungers, curtains for privacy, a bottle of fizz, fruit platter, and waiter service via the app. Worth every penny – especially on our last day before a late flight. It made saying goodbye a little easier!||Food was excellent, with breakfast offering something for every taste, from local delicacies to international favourites. The evening buffet had great variety (sushi night was a hit), and I loved the salad and antipasto spread. At lunchtime the Culinarium is a good option, and the patisserie from 10am is an absolute gem – sandwiches, salads, waffles, crepes, ice cream… I may have worked my way through the menu.||The spa deserves a special mention. I had both a foot massage and a Swedish back, neck and shoulder massage – the latter genuinely the best I’ve ever had. They stock Apivita products too, which smell heavenly (tip: the cucumber and aloe face mask is magic after a day in the sun). The spa facilities also include a small gym, indoor pool, steam room etc. Everything felt calm, relaxing, and easy to book.||Another brilliant touch – if you’ve got a late flight, you can extend your room for €150, or simply enjoy the pool/beach all day and then freshen up in the spa showers before heading off. We did the latter, and it worked perfectly. Crepes, showers, cocktails – not a bad way to round off a holiday.||The location suited us perfectly: small, intimate, adults-only, and wonderfully relaxed. Even the beach stayed peaceful.||We booked an excursion too – the Halkidiki boat trip with swimming, a Neos Marmaras visit and lunch (£83pp). It was a long day (8am–7pm back at the hotel) but absolutely worth it. Jumping off a boat into the middle of the Aegean is now firmly on my “top travel memories” list.||And finally, the cats! There’s a friendly little colony around the hotel, clearly cared for and much-loved. Watching them play in the evenings became a bit of a ritual for us – total joy.||A couple of challenges:||The only real frustration was the mosquitos. The hotel has done its bit by fitting great mosquito screens, but housekeeping often left patio and bathroom doors propped open during cleaning, which let them in. Most evenings we’d come back to find a handful buzzing around the room (I once counted ten). DEET spray and citronella candles (sold in the shop) helped, but it did take the shine off bedtime a little.||Housekeeping also seemed determined to clean regardless of the “Do Not Disturb” sign. We don’t need the room serviced daily and enjoy a holiday lie-in, but every day without fail they came in. ||The actual cleaning was excellent, and the staff are very friendly – but closing the doors whilst in the room cleaning and respecting the signs would really improve things.||Overall:||Despite those small niggles, we had the most incredible time. The mix of luxury, relaxation, food, spa, beach and trips made this one of our best holidays yet. We can’t wait to be back – only 302 days to go (yes,...
Read moreSuch a bitter 5 star disappointment. Have tried to get flights home early. ANYONE WITH DIETARY ISSUES SHOULD NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. The biggest problem here is the food and lack of knowledge around coeliac disease, dairy free, and other special diets. Labelling is sometimes missing and on occasions incorrect. It's dangerous and could be lethal. Al La Carte restaurant for lunch has been by far the best food and the hottest. Although with 2 days left of the season they have run out of the two main desserts. The menu Is the same for the entire 10 days, and very few options that would suit those with allergens. You have to book for the evening, A 10 night stay allows you two visits. Our party of four went once and vowed to never return. The spinach soup was cold, and the veg in it stone cold, all mains were tepid; eggplant and others; the only nice thing was dessert. The buffet is average at BEST, never hot. I spoke to the manager, who said it will always be around 60 degrees centergrade. (In the UK, it would be over 63.) Perch in cream was labelled "dairy free." 2 staff members said it did NOT contain milk, and the 3rd confirmed it did ( just one example ). No one really seemed to know what ingredients were in dishes and just made it up. Prior to staying, TUI was informed of our stay and dietary needs. The hotel was also emailed directly and responded; so knew of our upcoming visit and had plenty of time to prepare. Also a meeting was arranged on arrival to discuss. Nothing was put in place to be safe or provide alternative choices. This changed on day 8 when I told the hotel I wanted to leave and have my flight changed. They offered to try and arrange something better. Even though this had been an ongoing battle since arrival. Dinner that night ( tonight ) was no better. The only allowance made was almond milk crepes at the patisserie, as other than fruit or salad nothing was available. Its been a poor show throughout and not somewhere i would class as 5 star as the service certainly was not.
The land the hotel is built on is reclaimed swap land so flies and mosquitos are a big problem at the momemt. There is the blue lagoon Queen being built next door but one for a 2024 opening. It will have the largest waterpark in europe. So not sure how quiet and relaxed this hotel ( Palace ) will stay. At the moment spoil from the excavation works are being dumped out the front of the Palace hotel; see photos; and is noisy and dusty.
Minifridge has no alchol apart from a bottle of sparkling on arrival. It is refilled every 2 days with 4 cans of soft drink; ie: 1 each per day.
Rooms are cleaned each day to a good standard. The hotel in general is clean.
Bathroom amenities do NOT include CONDITIONER, the shampoo smells nice but is not moisterising and dries your hair out. Towels are somedays thick and fluffy and others are old "Sensimar" thin and smaller ones. [Sensimar was rebranded in 2020]
Indoor pool is lovely with a steam room and sauna, towels are provided here too, very friendly staff.
Spa prices are good with a great selection of treatments.
Not all drinks are on the all-inclusive, extra cocktails are €7. Milkshakes €3 There are no "nibbles" in the bars. Some of the seats have no cushions and can be uncomfortable.
The entertainment staff are friendly and professional. Casino night was a blast as was the silent disco. We leant to play "Kubb". Took part in quizzes and darts. The Tui rep, Roxy, was Professional and friendly. Available 6 days a week.
We won 4 cocktails, they had to be the cocktail of the day only, and could not be changed.
Last few days buffet breakfast and dinner has been lacking in the usual choice. We feel like we are being given leftovers.
Updates The cocktail of the day is AWAYs a frozen lemon drop Last evening meal , no effort made Last breakfast, cold hashbrowns, and beans. Could not be bothered to try anything else.
The best part of this trip were some of the people we met and...
Read moreWent with our family ( two adults plus two young adults) for a relaxing break and it certainly delivered that. Unlike another hotel we went to last year our young adults were welcomed and praised by other guests. It is a friendly hotel ( staff and guests) however you could keep yourself to yourself in your romantic hideaway if you wanted to!||There are watersports on beach ( 5 min walk ) and the prices looked reasonable. You can also hire a boat from there.||The gym was disappointing ( from my perspective( . No weights under 4kg and it is tiny.) Our sons did however use it every day.||Beach towels are available from spa and can be changed once a day.||Mossies - I travelled with someone who attracts them and he got very few bites. The room had screens on windows and doors . I can only say that anyone complaining about them last week has clearly not been to Finland or even the UK. I saw one in the entire week. I am sure there were more around in the evening as you would expect. I did take all the stuff recommended on the facebook page for this hotel and brought back the mossie wipes. I did use avon skin so soft most days, a spray from France ( Savon Garde) so maybe this repelled the ones I did not see!||We hired a car for a day and went to Fiki Beach Bar at Pefkohori ( I recommend this if you like beach bars and will review it separately) . However if you hire a car and go down the Kassandra Pensinula be warned unless you get off the main road you will not see much ( much better views from a coach). ||We went on a tui boat trip ( waves) which was excellent . There were two swim stops and a BBQ and a trip to Neos Marmaras which we all enjoyed. This trip goes down the Sithonia Peninsula and from to coach on the way to the port because we were higher up we could see lovely views.||We had two Junior Suites with Private Pool. With one person in the pool I could swim around it. We had tried to book a larger pool however if you want privacy stick to the Junior Suites because the larger ones have no privacy ( face beach and road).||This was the best welcome we have had from hotel reception and the staff were brilliant. Mary Grace is awesome and James O, Pule A , Asher S were all great ( sorry if I have not mentioned any of the waiting staff who were all awesome. Bar Staff were great too.||Entertainment..some have said there are no local bars. There is one a 10 min walk away but we did not go ( crazy horse). ||There was a brilliant dance group ( all classically trained, modern dancing with fire!) who were on twice while we were there. Do not expect a rave! I enjoyed pilates ( one to one because no-one else came) , pilates, yoga and relaxation on aqua boards which were also great. We also had a local language class which was fun. Not to forget the wine tasting which was interesting particularly with regard to the impact of local cheese on the taste of the three local wines on offer! || The local village has two coffee shops ( recommend Mikel) . a supermarket and a great pharmacy ( pharmacist is brilliant). We walked along the beach for the sea view and cool breeze and it took around 20 mins to get to the village. ( you see an old windmill on the way and turn off just after it).||Shop in hotel is small. They sell inflatables and have a compressor. They sell some essentials.||Although this hotel is mainly one level please note that to get to toilets from main level ( including pool restaurant and bar ) there is a lift or two flights of stairs. ( If you need them close and you have difficulty walking think about where you room is since it may be quicker to go back to it) This was not an issue for us but was for some guests.||We loved this hotel and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank...
