Pansion Platana is situated on the main road just outside Glossa (within the town boundaries, but not in the town itself). The ferry from the mainland docks in the port of Loutraki, at the bottom of the hill and it is a short taxi or car ride to the Pansion. (If you are planning to hire a care, I would do it the day after you arrive and just get a taxi as, if you arrive at night and don't know the island, you may have difficulty finding it - and if you overshoot the driveway, there are not many spots to turn round!). There is a bus stop just outside - the bus goes to Skopelos town 2 or 3 times a day and stops at all the main beaches and towns on the way.||Unlike many of the holiday apartments, it has ample parking if you are renting a car and the building is off the road, but no steep climbs or multiple staircases to haul your luggage up (though obviously if you are on the upper floor there are a few stairs)! The rooms are smallish, but light and airy, with a small balcony, kitchenette and ensuite bathroom with shower. Beds are double or twin singles and comfortable, with good quality pillows and plenty of blankets, quilts, etc. provided if you need them (which you won't if you go in June, July or August!). There is AC and an overhead fan (ours was a bit noisy!). Eleni, the owner, is Greek but Australian by birth, so speaks fluent English and is very friendly and helpful ("anything you need, just ask"). The kitchenette is very basic, with a plug-in hotplate and a sink and fridge with freezer compartment (so ice for drinks is not a problem!). When we arrived, we didn't have a kettle or toaster in our room, but these were quickly provided, so "just ask"!||There is a pleasant vine-covered terrace on the upper floor with a view of the mountains, a nice place for socialising if you are with a group of friends.||It is an easy walk to the main town, bakeries and tavernas and a supermarket just down the road (note for Aussies - all supermarkets in Europe sell booze, so you don't need to go to a bottle shop for supplies!). The rates are very reasonable and the Pansion is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful island of Skopelos. It's not 4-star, but then you're not paying for 4-star! We would...

Read moreIt was our second stay in Pansion Platana. This year we arrived with our parents and friends. Everybody just loved everything about this place (and the island as well). Although not everyone from our group speaks English (not even mention Greek), there was no problem for them to communicate with Eleni (and with many other people on the island). Pansion Platana has very good location to visit Glossa and to take trips to another places on the Skopelos Island. We stayed in 3 rooms (on the 1st floor) - each has a beautiful view from the balcony. There is also a terasse where we were having meals. Eleni causes that you can feel in Pansion Platana as at your friend's home. She not only helps with ordinary holiday problems such as where to rent a motorbike or a boat and where are the most beautiful beaches, but also gives you a lift when you are coming back from the town with...
