Ancient Necropolis of Aigai (Aegae) — Attraction in Veria Municipality

We came to this site without expectations and were more than pleasantly surprised by the Necropolis (museum). The collection was thoughtfully arranged and is just stunning. It is the burial tomb of Phillip II the king of Macedonia who was responsible for uniting its various tribes and consolidating its territory, setting the stage for his son Alexander’s triumphant campaigns. Part of his success came from lessons he learned as a child hostage in Greece. He learned of the phalanx formation and the use of the long spear or pike called a sarissa which he brought to the Macedonian infantry. He also transformed the army with increased discipline and training. Under Phillip the soldiers were provided with the possibility of advancement through the ranks and were rewarded with bonuses and extra wages for exceptional service. All of this is reflected in this tomb of exceptional quality. This may be one of the best memorials I’ve seen of a clearly beloved king and the father of a nation. Αρχαία Νεκρόπολη Αιγών, είναι ένας από τους πιο εντυπωσιακούς αρχαιολογικούς χώρους στην Μακεδονία! Αξίζει κάθε λεπτό που ξοδεύετε, για την επίσκεψη. 20€ είσοδος νομίζω πώς είναι μία φυσιολογική τιμή, γι'αυτα που προσφέρει. Στην τιμή συμπεριλαμβάνεται είσοδος στην νεκρόπολη, καθώς καί στα δύο μουσεία. Μπαίνοντας μέσα στην κατακόμβη, το σκοτάδι, δημιουργεί την ατμόσφαιρα του υποκόσμου καί βάζει απευθείας τον επισκέπτη στο να νιώσει πραγματικά το δέος, βλέποντας τα εκθέματα. Η δύο πύλες, μία του Φιλίππου καί του εγγονού του (γιό του μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου) είναι πραγματικά κάτι που δεν θα το ξεχάσετε ποτέ! Η διαρρύθμιση του μουσείου μέσα είναι άριστη. Ο εξωτερικός χώρος προσεγμένος, περιποιημένος. Πολύ καλά οργανωμένος, κάτι που δεν θα έλεγα για την Βεργίνα σάν χωριό. Πρέπει να γίνουν επεμβάσεις από τόν Δήμο. 1. Το πάρκινγκ να γίνει επί πληρωμής, όπως σε όλη την πολιτισμένη Ευρώπη. Τα λεφτά από πάρκινγκ πρέπει να επενδυθούν στο να φτιαχτούν πεζοδρόμια σε όλο τον χωριό - κωμόπολη. Να σχεδιαστούν σύμφωνα με ευρωπαϊκά στάνταρ. Αυτήν την στιγμή αυτά τα λίγα που υπάρχουν έχουν διάφορα εμπόδια, (δέντρα, κολόνες κτλ.), δεν έχουν αυλάκια για αναπήρους. Αυτοκίνητα παρκαρισμένα δεξιά αριστερά καί ανύπαρκτη σήμανση. Ελπίζω ότι οι αρμόδιοι θα προσέξουν καί θα διορθώσουν τα κακώς κείμενα. Έχω πάει σε πολλά μουσεία και κάστρα στην Ευρώπη καί Βαλκάνια. Μας ξεπέρασαν στην οργάνωση εξωτερικών χώρων ακόμα καί χώρες που μπήκαν στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση πρόσφατα. Καί δεν έχουν αρχαία, τόσο σπουδαίας σημασίας όσο...
