OK, with over 1.6k, 5-star reviews, I'm not reinventing the wheel saying that the beach is stunning and unique, it absolutely IS 🏖️ BUT, let's talk LOGISTICS. It's not like the rest of Pilio is like Autobahn, but beware of the emotional damage that driving down to the "parking lot" of this beach is ought to inflict in your car 🥴 By "parking lot" is a limited "space" for about 10 cars, where in some of these "spaces", cars are one misstep away from tumbling into the abyss 💀 Don't be that car! Now ONCE you park, THEN let Dante's 7th Circle of Cardio Hell begin on this sadistically designed military bootcamp trail, disguised as a beautiful destination for rest & relaxation ☀️ To whoever here writes "it's a short walk", sure, convincing and bravo, you do CrossFit for breakfast and you're cool. Reality: you HIKE. And you gotta do that down a steep, rocky, knee-destroying trail carved by centaurs in 300 BC and never maintained since. 🚧 There are “stairs,” sure - if by stairs you mean jagged stones and slippery death. It's not "recommended" to get there on sneakers. It's a choice of whether you gonna see your loved ones again 🫂 Birkenstocks are cool, we get it, but a torn ACL is not, trust me ✌️ Ohh and keep in mind that while hiking, you need to be loaded up like a Santorini Donkey since it's one of the few pure beaches with no bar or any kind of infrastructure. Which is generally amazing. So gear up with your umbrella, your bag and your ice box, and good luck 🤞 The place is rewarding. But rewards come in different shapes & figures, so a defibrillator in the trunk of the car, might not be a bad idea, especially for the older tourists that somehow think that hiking this trail of despair, should be done between 1pm & 5pm under 38°C. Guys, c'mon. Work smart, not hard 😉 To the rest of you CrossFit champs, good luck ! IF, you make it, you will not wanna leave. Quite...
Read moreContrary to what some people say in these reviews, the beach is very beautiful. It is a narrow gulf with cliffs all around, which makes it, in my opinion, very special and impactful.
The beach is made of small pebbles. If you are very focussed on total comfort, take some swim shoes, otherwise it is a perfectly fine experience.
Many people complained about the access and ameneties. This is not a beach with a concession, therefore there are no beach bars or umbrellas. This is a raw beach experience. I find it more interesting and unique than a standardized beach bar-like beach. In August, after 16:00 there is an extensive shade, and after 17:30/18:00 the whole beach is under shade.
The walk to the beach is perfectly fine. Anyone with shoes or some Teva-like sandals can easily walk it. If you have a physical issue I would not...
Read moreThe jewel of Pelion, hidden between two rocks, in a small cove with a turquoise sea. It is difficult to reach the bay, it is not easy for every car. The road is steep and there are bumpy parts that are not easy to cross. There is a space where vehicles can be parked, but it is not large capacity. The walking part is a real challenge and do not go if you have any physical or health problems. Be sure to wear sneakers and not slippers or flip flops. There is nothing on the beach itself, so you have to bring everything you need yourself. A parasol or other similar protection is necessary until 4 pm at least. Then you will enjoy the ambiance and scenery. Snorkeling could be good fun. Save some strength for...
