Aqua Magic — Attraction in Puerto San José

This could easily be rated 5 stars but, unfortunately, they haven't been maintaining it.

First, the positives: Staff is nice. Food is tasty. Chicken, fish, and burgers, all great. Pay for everything with a credit card. You can relax on the chairs, plenty of space. Access to the beach, and this is why we like this place.

Negatives: Music is very loud, has too much bass, and NOT family-friendly. The lyrics of most of the songs are dirty, talking about adult subjects, with the horrible reggaeton and others. This is a place for kids and adults. Why must the music be very loud? We couldn't stand it. It removed our peace. We didn't want music, we just want to enjoy the nature sounds, the water, waves, birds, not horrendous music. We thought the furthest we'd go from the dining area and entrance, the better, but when we reached the wave pool, we found out that that place had its own loud music too, so you end up hearing both loudly. Enjoy yelling for many hours to get the attention of anyone there, including those with you.

Very dirty water in all the pools. Green water with brown things coming out. Very worried about what bacteria swims in there. Or maybe just chemical imbalance and algae, or oxidization. See pictures.

The whole area needs major maintenance. Most things are rusted, lacking paint, chipped, etc. Lockers are fine though. Dining area is fine, but again the music is blasted near there so you can't eat in peace.

The 2 swirly water slides don't work well. We and others tried both. The water does flow but most of us sliding down got stuck every few meters and had to push ourselves to reach the end. And, the worst part is that both have fixes done to them and the glue, or whatever material used, creates a rough bump that hurts in multiple spots, and pulls your bathing suit up. I thought my bathing suit was going to rip. We didn't try the 2 middle slides. Nice view from the top of the slides towards the beach though. But, the metal of the stairs is fully rusted. The metal needs to be fixed, not painted.

Children slides need to be painted as soon as possible. Paint is chipped and it could hurt the kids.

The path to the beach (while still inside Aqua Magic) is not maintained and looks pretty bad. Broken walls, etc., until you exit the place, then it's fine.

Parking lot looks horrible and scary lol. Everything was okay though but they really need to improve that. They should also stop painting with yellow and brown, makes the whole place look even sketchier. You can't tell you've arrived because it looks like a warehouse, until you see the logo.

Some paths need fixing, they were broken. Others are fine. I do like that they put water sprinklers in some areas, in case you don't have your sandals.

Summary: So, unfortunately, like many places in Guatemala, it lacks maintenance and the music is very loud.

We went on a Friday and not many were there, maybe 10 total families throughout the day. I can understand that that's not enough to keep the place profitable, so I hope they can start fixing everything and get more visitors, but they need to do an effort and read reviews and feedback. We did see them painting the walls and some other places. That's good, but it's been so many years. Why don't they fix the floor of the pools, the water, the slides, the paths, etc.

We've been there about 5 times in the past 12 years, but I doubt we'd be returning. The only thing worth it is access to the beach while leaving our belongings in...

Super fun place and you have the ocean outside of the park. Very convenient. Just buy your tickets online and do it few days before your visit. Cuz the confirmation codes and numbers take a long time to get them. After 8 hours I'm still...

El lugar es bastante agradable tiene salida la la playa, lo mejor es que puedes dejar tu carro y tus pertenencias de valor en un lugar seguro mientras disfrutas de la playa, las piscinas son seguras para niños ya que no son muy hondas.

La comida esta bien,hay varias opciones desde ceviches, pescado, pollo, pizza y hamburguesas, con mi familia pedimos unos camarones empanizados que estaban muy ricos!!

El frente del lugar si esta un poco descuidado nada que un poco de pintura no arregle.

Te exigen utilizar la mascarilla si no estas dentro de la piscina o en la playa, te toman temperatura antes de entrar y te dan alcohol en gel. Había muy pocas personas lo cuál lo hace perfecto para evitar aglomeraciones ya que el lugar es...
