Hotel Turicentro Martita — Hotel in Puerto San José

For this remote location and considering the quality of available accommodation, this place was home for a fortnight for me. Rooms were small but reasonably well maintained. Basic furnishings. TV, A/C, ensuite (however very cramped), comfortable bed. No cooking items, no fridge. Hotel had a bisro/restaurant and meals were quite nice, with a Mexican/Spanish flavour. Afternoon drinks, nibblies around the pool are catered for. Staff quite friendly even though the language barrier is apparent, but I didn't starve. Reception staff quite regimented but efficient. It is un-nerving with all of the armed security staff in the town and on the highways. This hotel had 4 armed security people on duty 24/7. The owner gets involved with the guests and gives you that sense of family. Staff is very courteous and willing to go the extra mile whatever your needs are. I've read some reviews about the food before getting here and don't know what they were talking about; the food here is very good! The only concern I have is that the surrounding areas are not the best; still, as long as you don't go wondering around alone and at night, you should be OK. my husband and I needed a get away so we decided san jose and it was perfect! hotel martita was on the list online I wanted to be prepared but when we got here it was great the rooms are small but comfy we got a room by the pool and easy access to the living door. everything is great, food was awesome and the air conditioner perfect!!! the pool was dirty but we didn't mind because at night it has a perfect view to the millions stars. the hotel is near everything and a tutu away from the beach even dough at night they tend to over charge you. very safe and staff was good. overall...
