For this remote location and considering the quality of available accommodation, this place was home for a fortnight for me. Rooms were small but reasonably well maintained. Basic furnishings. TV, A/C, ensuite (however very cramped), comfortable bed. No cooking items, no fridge. Hotel had a bisro/restaurant and meals were quite nice, with a Mexican/Spanish flavour. Afternoon drinks, nibblies around the pool are catered for. Staff quite friendly even though the language barrier is apparent, but I didn't starve. Reception staff quite regimented but efficient. It is un-nerving with all of the armed security staff in the town and on the highways. This hotel had 4 armed security people on duty 24/7. I've read some reviews about the food before getting here and don't know what they were talking about; the food here is very good! The only concern I have is that the surrounding areas are not the best; still, as long as you don't go wondering around alone and at night, you should be OK.
