My recent trip to this majestic waterfall left me in awe, and I can confidently say that it was nothing short of amazing. Located amidst the lush greenery of the Western Ghats, Harvalem Waterfall offered a perfect escape from the bustling tourist spots in Goa. The journey to the waterfall was an adventure in itself, as we trekked through the verdant forests, following a trail that heightened our anticipation with every step. Upon reaching the waterfall, we were greeted by a breathtaking sight. The cascading water from considerable heights created a mesmerizing display of nature's power and beauty. The cool mist that enveloped the surroundings added to the enchanting ambiance, refreshing us after the trek. What impressed me the most was the unspoiled and natural setting of Harvalem Waterfall. Unlike some touristy waterfalls, this one remained relatively untouched, allowing visitors to experience the raw beauty of the place. It was a perfect spot for photographers, as every angle provided a postcard-worthy view. The pool at the base of the waterfall was inviting, and we couldn't resist taking a refreshing dip in its cool waters. Swimming amidst the serenity of the forest and the sound of the cascading water was an unforgettable experience. Harvalem Waterfall also held cultural significance, as it was located near the ancient Harvalem Caves and the temple of Rudreshwar. Exploring the caves and visiting the temple added a spiritual touch to our visit, making it a well-rounded experience that combined nature, adventure, and culture. I must mention that while the place was awe-inspiring, visitors should exercise caution and respect nature's boundaries. The rocks around the waterfall can be slippery, so it's essential to be careful while trekking and swimming. In conclusion, my experience at Harvalem Waterfall in Goa was truly amazing. The natural beauty, adventure, and spiritual vibes combined to create an unforgettable journey. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a magical and off-the-beaten-path experience in Goa.

The Arvalem falls, also known as the Harvalem falls, are located near Mapusa in North Goa. The closest villages are Bicholim, which is 8km away and Sanquelim which is 2km away. Transport is available from Panaji and Mapusa to reach the falls. The Harvalem falls are at their zenith during the monsoon season when the influx of water from the rains makes their outpouring full and majestic. Right after the monsoon season is also a good time to visit. During the winter and summer months however, the falls themselves dry up to just a silvery trickle, but the lake that forms at the bottom of the falls is a popular watering hole for veteran swimmers. The falls themselves are in beautiful and majestic surroundings with the hilly slopes being coated in the verdant greenery, so characteristic of the Goan forests. The government has built and maintained a park near the waterfall. This is a great place to enjoy a serene look at the falls or to stop for a picnic. The old arched bridge which lays a little way away from the falls is a great place to walk along to get a good view of the falls, and is also a photographer’s dream. The area surrounding the falls is also popular for its other attractions. Close by lies the famous Mayem lake, just a little way away from Bicholim. Within walking distance of the falls lie the Arvalem rock cut caves which are believed to have been either carved by Buddhist monks or to be the place where the Pandavas took refuge for a while during their 12 year exile, or both. The Rudreshwar temple too is within easy walking distance of the falls. The stone steps that lead up to the temple are to one side of the waterfall, with the bridge being on the other side. Those who enjoy more adventurous pursuits can even combine a visit to the falls with a white water rafting trip which starts at Valpoi, a village which lies just 13km (approx. 20 mins by road) away from the Arvalem waterfall.

🌿 A Soulful Escape to Rudreshwar Temple & Harvalem Waterfall, Goa Recently, I had the privilege of visiting the Rudreshwar Temple near the Kudne River in Goa. Nestled amidst nature, the temple offers an incredibly serene and spiritual atmosphere. The gentle flow of the Kudne River and the tranquility surrounding the temple make it a perfect place for introspection and peace. Just a short distance away lies the breathtaking Harvalem Waterfall. The sound of the cascading water, the cool mist in the air, and the lush greenery provided a moment of reflection and clarity—it felt like life slowed down, offering me a new perspective. It was truly mesmerizing. What made this experience even more special were the two humble stalls located near the waterfall. One served hot, freshly roasted corn in a traditional Indian style—simple yet packed with nostalgic flavor. The other, a tea stall, offered piping hot tea and crispy onion bhajis. I told myself I’d just have one plate—but I ended up devouring four! The bhajis were that irresistible. Both stall owners were incredibly warm and welcoming, embodying the true spirit of Goan hospitality. It’s rare to find such genuine customer service these days. If you’re planning to explore North Goa beyond the beaches and parties, I highly recommend spending a few hours at Rudreshwar Temple and Harvalem Waterfall. Let the natural beauty calm your soul, and don’t forget to treat yourself to the corn and bhajis nearby—you’ll thank me later! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A heartwarming experience filled with spirituality, nature, and delicious street food.
