Charlie's Roatan Tours — Attraction in Roatán

Our tour was a disorganized chaos. We were told $75 per person and had the money ready at the beginning of the tour but we’re never asked for it. We were sent away with a tour guide (turns out it was his 2nd day). When we got to the monkey & sloth hangout the guide told us that it was $12/pp which we thought was odd because it was all part of the tour. Anyways, we paid it and continued on. Then we arrived at a busy beach resort and we’re told we needed to pay an additional $20 per person to use the beach (that we never signed up for) plus give him the $75/pp for the tour. I asked for him to call his boss because I had in the meantime pulled out my paperwork showing that the monkeys & sloths were all included and that a private beach resort was not part of our tour. We wasted 45 minutes standing there while he tried to figure it out. Finally, he took us to the right beach and we boarded a random boat to take us out to the boat that was initially supposed to get us from the beach. By the time we reached the snorkeling boat others were finishing up so our snorkeling was cut short big time. The snorkel gear tasted & smelt like sunlight dish soap and the man was actively filleting a fish in the boat while getting us set up with our snorkel gear. We were really excited for this excursion and after reading other reviews we thought we were set. It was a stressful day filled with many wrong turns and a very short snorkel excursion. We would have loved to hear about what we were seeing on the island but our guide barely said a word. If you have the right tour guide who is knowledgeable you may have a different experience but we were very disappointed and leery about doing private tours in the future. We wouldn’t use this...

I'm actually really sad to leave this review. We used Charlie's once in 2020 and then again last year in November. If I was leaving a review based on those experiences it would be 5 stars. After the great experiences, we were back this week and made a reservation with Charlie's with the same guide we had in November.

We were in a different port but followed the instructions to meet up. Our guy was nowhere to be found. Random people started approaching us on the streets claiming they were talking to Charlie. Multiples of them. It was hard to know who was telling the truth and who was not. Eventually one of the guys told us that he was going to take us though he was not with Charlie's tours. I texted Charlie at the phone number he provided and never got a response. This guide was completely lackluster compared to the previous experiences. I gave the other people in my party more of a tour than he did. He seemed to just want to take us to places that we could spend money and not want to teach us anything at all. He seemed to just want to get done and get paid. It was not a great experience. Come the end of the tour I had still heard absolutely nothing back from Charlie, Nora had the person who booked the tour. At that point I sent them an email letting them know about the potential safety issues and the concerns I had. That was now 3 days ago and I never got a response. We will not be using the service again. I am quite sad...

Charlie's Roatan Tours is the real MVP of island adventures! From the moment we hopped in the van with our guide Dave (a total legend!), we knew we were in for a ride—safe, smooth, and packed with fun.

First stop: the monkey and sloth sanctuary. Have you ever had a monkey steal your sunglasses or chill slowly with a sloth? No? Highly recommend. Our kids were squealing with joy, and honestly, so were the adults. The animals were adorable, the staff was knowledgeable, and the photos? Pure gold.

Then it was off to Brady’s Cay, where we found private beach paradise. White sand, clear water, and hammocks swinging in the breeze. Total bliss. The beach was super clean, not crowded at all, and gave us the perfect mix of relaxation and “Instagram-worthy” scenery. We even squeezed in a beach massage that made us forget we ever had necks.

Dave was with us every step of the way—friendly, funny, and incredibly professional. He answered our 1,000 questions, handled our wild crew with patience, and made us feel completely safe the whole time.
