first of all, how to get there.
there is a white bus that take you from the buda side at the end of the chain bridge, stops like 22 stops and they you are there, it take like 25 mins or so, so dont be lazy and please visit.
you buy a ticket from a Machine there is no one around so make sure you buy the two ways ticket.
you just show them the ticket and they let you stand on a spot on the ground and it does not STOP, so you have to jump on it and YOU close the safety bar, so be prepared to this, do not panic it is the way it is and they do not give you instructions.
MAKE SURE TO PUT YOUR STUFF IN A BAG NOT IN YOUR POCKETS, it is very open, put your money or phone or whatever in your bag before you ride because they will drop 80%, especially when you are struggling with the safety iron bar.
okay so, IT IS SCARY, but you will enjoy it, in fact it is the most beautiful thing in budapest if you like nature, take care not to use your phone to take pictures or whatsoever because there is a huge chance you will drop it in the woods, enjoy the peaceful scenery please and do not waste your time trying to take pictures.
GOOD NEWS: At the end of the ride UP, there is a Camera on your left (no body tells you About it) so make sure you know this before you go up so you can take a nice picture.
when you reach up, you jump, then you go to a machine where you choose your picture, they you can choose to have your picture on various things, keychain, small or big fridge magnet, or simply a picture, dont take the keychain its bad quality and breaks instantly, then you have a number and go to cashier and pay for it and take your stuff.
when you reach up you have two choices:
note that it is SCARIER when you come back down, enjoy the scenery, try not to look under you, instead look at the landscape...
Read moreThe Zugliget Chairlift, also known as Zugligeti Libegő, offers a delightful and unique experience that provides a panoramic view of Budapest's scenic beauty. From the moment I boarded the chairlift, I was enthralled by the breathtaking vistas of the lush Buda hills and the Danube River meandering below.
The gentle ascent in the open-air chairlift allows visitors to savor every moment of the journey. The feeling of gliding smoothly through the air is exhilarating, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It offers a sense of tranquility and connection with nature that is hard to find elsewhere in Budapest.
At the top station, the breathtaking views only get better. The sprawling cityscape unfolds before your eyes, showcasing iconic landmarks such as Buda Castle, the Parliament building, and the Chain Bridge. It's a photographer's paradise, and I found myself snapping pictures at every turn.
The Zugliget Chairlift is not just about the views; it also serves as a gateway to the beautiful Normafa area, where visitors can explore the surrounding forests and go on scenic hikes. Whether you're looking for a leisurely ride to appreciate the scenery or an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, this attraction has something for everyone.
I highly recommend the Zugliget Chairlift to both tourists and locals alike. It's an affordable and enjoyable experience that provides a fresh perspective on Budapest's charm and natural splendor. Don't miss this unforgettable journey that elevates your Budapest visit to...
Read moreMay 2023 I've updated this review as returned to take this chairlift again this year. The main thing to say is that the return cost has almost doubled to 3000 HuF, everything else as before. I can understand the price increase as they probably couldn't cover their costs at 1600 HuF.
June 2022 Amazing ride, I would recommend everyone to take the Chairlift even if you're fit enough to walk it. At 1600 HUF for a return ticket, I think it's the cheapest Chairlift I've ever used, and you get a Full 14 minute journey each way. It was so quiet thus morning, just the creak of the cables and the sound of birdsong as I ascended. I had gone in the morning to visit Elizabeth Lookout, but in the afternoon I did a second trip just to enjoy another 28 minute ride there and back. Only thing I'd say is I was there at opening time 10.00am, and with only two ticket machines and a queue of people, it took a while to clear. I think you're better off coming at 10.30 and the queues will have gone. Quite amazing to see how the Chairlift route cuts through several people's gardens, and they've had to cut trees/hedges so it doesn't interfer with...
