Hitvesi szeretet: Bory Jenő a várat felesége, Komócsin Ilona festőművész iránti szeretetének szimbólumaként építette. A várban található Hitvesi Szeretet Kápolnája ennek a szeretetnek állít emléket.
Művészi alkotások: A várban több száz szobor és festmény található, amelyek Bory és felesége, valamint más neves művészek alkotásai. A vár maga is egy műalkotás, tele mozaikokkal, üvegfestményekkel és díszkutakkal.
A közterület változásai
Mária-völgy: A vár a Mária-völgyben található, amely kezdetben külterület volt, de mára Székesfehérvár része lett. A vár előtti terület a Bory tér nevet viseli.
Közlekedés: A vár könnyen megközelíthető autóval és tömegközlekedéssel is, a város egyik legnépszerűbb turisztikai látványossága.
Történelmi események és pletykák
Építkezés: Az építkezés során Bory Jenő saját maga vezette a munkálatokat, és gyakran mesélt a látogatóknak a vár építésének történetéről.
Második világháború: A vár a második világháború alatt is sértetlen maradt, és Bory Jenő halála után is folytatódtak a helyreállítási munkálatok.

The History and Fascinating Stories of Bory Castle
Bory Castle in Székesfehérvár is one of the most unique buildings in Hungary, built by sculptor and architect Jenő Bory based on his own designs. Construction began in 1923 and continued until Bory’s death in 1959. The castle was built as a tribute to conjugal love and artistic dreams, often referred to as the “Taj Mahal of Székesfehérvár.”
Romantic and Interesting Stories
Conjugal Love: Jenő Bory built the castle as a symbol of his love for his wife, painter Ilona Komócsin. The Chapel of Conjugal Love in the castle commemorates this love.
Artistic Creations: The castle houses hundreds of sculptures and paintings by Bory, his wife, and other renowned artists. The castle itself is a work of art, filled with mosaics, stained glass, and decorative fountains.
Changes in the Public Area
Mária Valley: The castle is located in Mária Valley, which was initially an outlying area but has since become part of Székesfehérvár. The area in front of the castle is named Bory Square.
Transportation: The castle is easily accessible by car and public transport, making it one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
Historical Events and Gossip
Construction: During the construction, Jenő Bory personally supervised the work and often shared stories about the building’s history with visitors.
World War II: The castle remained intact during World War II, and restoration work continued after Bory’s death.

A hidden gem deep inside the city of Székesfehérvár. A single man, a sculptor and painter's eclectic fairy tale dream built brick by brick into towers, bastions, zigzagging stairways, walled gardens and small pathways. If you have the patience, there are myriad fragments of art and history hidden in every nook and cranny - from the multitude of tiny coins related to historic events, statesmen or outright heroes embedded in the stone walls, to larger than life, looming statues and an immense sword hanging above the balustrades. Take your time - there is definitely more than the towering architecture - a considerable, fragmented history of the country is here, like shingles washed ashore by a simple man's imaginary sea.

Well, it's an interesting place. A 'castle' that someone built personally for themselves. It raises many questions about why someone would do this and why in this way. There are many interesting choices he made and the place is somewhat of a hodgepodge in a way. Perhaps that makes sense considering he built it over 40 years. (I would have loved to see the plans for the castle, and if they are there I missed them.) He was also a sculptor (and a painter) so there are a large number of sculptures and paintings all through the place. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but if you happen to be passing and have an interest in the arts and like a quirky castle, then by all means spend some time exploring it.

I don't understand why this castle is not popular among travelers!!!! I found it after two years I lived in Hungary! It is super easy to get by car from Budapest and even by transportation it is not that much complicated! It doesn't have free entry but tickets are super cheap..
The castle is not big but it is amazing, I totally recommend it o whoever lives in Hungary and for travelers who have at least a week in Hungary,
I know there are many other cities to see during a touristic trip to Hungary but this one is worth it guys! I was surprised when I went there and see zero foreigners on a summer day!
It is one of the best hidden places you will ever see

Initially thought it was a genuine castle but it turned out to be a new built (20th century?) definitely should come in warmer time since it can be quite chilly, especially on the top of the towers. The ‘castle’ looks very nice on the outside, but it needs some more refinement. Although, considering it was basically built by one person, it’s really impressive. Overall, if you are planning to go to Szekesfehervar only for that castle, I don’t really recommend it. Transport links is quite complicated as buses don’t go there often. No offense, but I think Hungary has tens of beautiful genuine castles worth visiting first, then you can visit Bory var.
