The Staðarbjörg Basalt Columns are located just next to swimming pool in Hofsós and across the street from Hofsóskirkja (church). There is a shared carpark with a pathway that lead down to a nice viewpoint of the the well defined basalt cliffs in both directions.
You can take very nice pictures of the basalt cliffs and walk down further to the lower level columns which are beautifully shaped and really nice to see up close near sea level.
