Had a great trip up to this hiking "Seat". We came in on a cruise ship and could see it off the front. I would say this is a gnarly hike due to its steepness, but it only took 15 minutes to get up and around 10 down. If you don't like loose surfaces or steep trails, try the trails near the Bundafoss waterfall in town. They are beautiful and easier. The views of Isafjord are awesome. It took me 75 minutes to walk there from the port, so it is doable on your own. This trail with snow/ice on it would be a trail for experienced ice climbers only. Be prepared...

Maybe I was expecting too much. Long story short: This is not really a ‚hike‘. You go straight up a steep hill and then come down the same path again. From bottom to top you have the same view on the airfield and the industrial zone of the city of Isafjordur. There are some large rocks at the top which are just like all other large rocks in Island. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour for a good workout. But...

I briefly considering climbing the trolls seat, but time, the proximity to the ship of the brughus, and excursions did not allow for it. I did have a beer with a fellow shipmate whose cousin and nephew had spent the morning and make it up to the seat. My pictures are from the ship, from the observation point (Urðarvegur) and as we...

What a great location! But, after 2 days of constant rain the trail up to the Troll Seat was less than optimum. Very slippery conditions led us to make it 3/4 of the way before turning back citing safety concerns. The view is stellar! Be careful and enjoy the scenery! Plenty of tasty blueberries were also enjoyed during this adventure.
