A Cautionary Tale: Devarapalli Waterfalls (Sarayu/Bahubali)
A Place of Beauty and Risk:
Respecting the Beauty:
Devarapalli's beauty should not be overshadowed by potential dangers. Let's visit responsibly, prioritize safety, and prevent similar tragedies.
In Memory:
This review is dedicated to my friend's memory and serves as a sincere warning to potential visitors. Enjoy the beauty of nature with respect and prioritize your safety above all else.
Devarapalli Waterfalls, also known as Sarayu or Bahubali Falls, holds a special place in my heart. Its cascading waters and lush surroundings create a scene of breathtaking beauty. However, beneath this picturesque facade lies a hidden danger that recently impacted me deeply.
A Friend Lost:
A close friend of mine recently lost their life at Devarapalli due to the unpredictable water flow. This experience has left me devastated and determined to warn others about the potential dangers.
Hidden Hazards:
While Devarapalli offers stunning visuals, the water current can be deceptively strong and prone to sudden changes. The terrain leading to the falls can be challenging, especially after heavy rains.
Lack of Safety Measures:
Unfortunately, Devarapalli lacks proper safety infrastructure. There are no lifeguards on duty, and due to its remote location, reaching emergency services can take a significant amount of time (up to 2 hours). In such a situation, even minutes can be critical.
A Heartfelt Warning:
If you choose to visit Devarapalli Waterfalls, please prioritize safety:
Beware of Water Flow: Always be cautious of the water's strength and avoid venturing too close to the edge.
Difficult Terrain: Be aware of the challenging path, especially during or after rains. Proper footwear is essential.
No Immediate Help: Understand that there are no lifeguards or immediate emergency services available nearby. Dude, Devarapalli Falls (aka Sarayu or Bahubali) are insane! Crystal clear water, surrounded by greenery - it's like swimming in a fantasy movie. But listen up, there's a bit of a catch to this paradise.
This review goes out to my friend, and anyone else who wants to visit this spot without any bummer endings. We gotta enjoy this place safely, yeah?
Why the Chill Vibes Warning?
So, my friend recently had a rough experience at Devarapalli. The water current there can be super strong, and it changes its mind faster than you can say "waterfall." Plus, the hike to get there can be a bit of a pain, especially after a good downpour.
No Lifeguards, No Superman: Here's the thing - there are NO lifeguards at Devarapalli. On top of that, it's kinda far out. So, if something happens, getting help could take forever (like, seriously, hours!). Every minute counts, you know?
Alright, How Do We Party Safely?
Respect the Water Power: Don't get too close to the edge, and be super careful around the water in general. Mind Your Step: The path can be a slip-and-slide, especially when it's rainy. Proper shoes are key! No Heroics! Remember, no lifeguards or instant help nearby. Play it safe, always. The Takeaway:
Devarapalli Falls are epic, but safety first! Be mindful of the water flow, the path, and the lack of immediate assistance.
Let's all have a blast at this amazing place, but...
Read moreDevarapalli waterfalls aka Sariya waterfalls is about 8 km from Devarapalli village. From the road point , going inside with bikes and cars is possible to some extent but should be careful as it is offroad with lot of pebbles and you may fall down. First you need to cross a stream and hike for about a km before reaching the entrance where a 20rs ticket is collected. The first waterfalls Bahubali waterfalls ( level1) is gigantic along with a small pool kind of structure but with bold letter " Danger" everywhere. You come across notice boards as a caution with images of deadbodies who died at the place. The place is fenced and we shouldn't enter it. Along side the waterfalls there are steps that remind us of " Mokalla parvatam " of tirupati. Once you aboard that you are on top of a rocky surface where you can lie down a bit. You can take pictures from this place. From here, you need to climb along the rocky inclined surface . There are no steps here and if you are careless, you will easily rolldown and get injured. After this, we have little flat place where you can take pictures with waterfalls in the background ( level2) . Someof us especially boys went little back and there lies a little place to get down into water pool . Luckily a rope tied to wooden structure is provided withiut which you will easily slip and get injured. Use the rope to get into waters, the waters are chilling but not clear even with an underwater goggles. Be to the left of the waterfalls . If you move to the right, there is ample chance of you getting lost and your photo might be next on the notice board. Never drink and dive. There is little place for us to change clothes in between rocks. From there if you go further up you will get a pool of water ( level3)where it is safe to get into water for everyone. Unfortunately, we started late and reached level2 by sunset and so we didn't try level3. By the time we came down to our vehicles, it is pitch dark. Mobile networks are not working and gps is down and so I advise to start early and return before sunset. I heard that there are incidents of theft where vehicles are parked. So, be careful and don't leave things there. Don't leave any thrash . Enjoy the nature and keep the place neat without leaving any footprint of manmade debris. There are no washrooms or dress changing rooms and it is little wild place and so if you have women in your gang, be prepared for this. Always wear soes with grip. Remove shoes while crossing the water stream. Carry water bottles as there is no provision of drinking water. But don't leave your waterbottles adding to plastic pollution.Enjoy the place. All...
