Regional Science Centre - Tirupati — Attraction in Andhra Pradesh

Today we visited Regional science centre, tirupati. Really you can enjoy, If you are interested in science. For children it is an enjoyment place. Planetarium is video is expensive. Entry also a bit expensive. But children can enjoy half day.Exhibition Hours Mon-Sat : 09:30 AM-06.00 PM Sunday : 10:00 AM-06.30 PM Centre is kept open on all the days of the year except on Ganesha Chaturthi & Diwali. The museum is a member of the National Council of Science Museums (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) and comes under the administration of Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore. It has six exhibition galleries viz. ‘Fun Science’, which has interactive experiments explaining scientific concepts; ‘Popular Science’, which includes exhibits on electricity, heat, magnetism, light sound etc; ‘Our Universe’ which encourages questions on the nature and composition of the universe; ‘Our Senses’ which illustrates the role of the sensory organs in perceiving external reality; ‘Illusion’ which has multi-sensory illusions as part of an immersive experience and ‘Emerging Technology’ which records the new developments in science and technology and the importance of their application in fields like ocean technology, space technology, biotechnology and so on. There is also an outdoor science park which has a herbal garden with medicinal plants , an animal corner and a prehistoric life park which is composed of models of different dinosaurs. Other attractions include a model of the Large Hadron Collider that creates a simulation of the Big Bang, a 3D theatre and science shows. The museum regularly organises educational programmes, sky observation sessions, film screening and lectures. The museum is also responsible for the functioning of a mobile science exhibition, which makes the exhibits widely accessible. It has twenty working exhibits that travel to rural areas of the state. Situated in Bangalore road, with the back drop of tirumala hills is very wonderful and must visit place . Some of short comings are highlighted for improvement. Otherwise also it has enough for learning and entertainment. In swing the quintal demo, chain length is not enough. Sea saw experiment was interesting. Ball is missing in the acrobatic ball demo and many other demo where balls required. This may due to quality of people we are who don't care public property. In lift yourself demo, interesting to see that I could lift myself but the platform didn't return to original position. I wish I could have done it few more times. Worm wheel demo was not working.. Balls are missing in minimum time path demo. Mind blowing to see the cricket player through the holes, the keeper's shoulder was slightly off.

Win the race demo was very interesting. Nipkov's disc demo is a revelation and a self realization. In compound pendular demo, difficult to move outer platform. In guess the length demo, chain length was too much to guess with pointers. Enjoyed variable pendulam, very interesting to see how the acceleration changes before your eyes in your hands. Actions and reaction is also a interesting demo. Life sciences corner was well maintained. It would thrilling for kids to visit pre historic park, it house animated statues with sound effects

In mirage bowl, a bulb with electrical connection are open to access, may not be safe for kids. Not working demos shall be marked accordingly to avoid people trying the same.

Our universe is an indoor demonstrations explaining wonders of science and humans. A full day would justify the content inside this. I returned halfway. As I had only five hours at disposal I could not complete.

I wish that considerable fraction of devotees would come here and benefit. See the hands of God...

Entry fee ₹30 and planetarium fee ₹30, the gardens around these buildings are nice, the science museum is not as good as the Birla ones. Some of the exhibits are not working, the planetarium is a small one maybe 30 people can sit at the max. The Show was supposed to start at 4:30 pm but was started at 4:55 pm due to people who bought the tickets were still roaming outside. The show that was being played was not at all informative! After the Space Race of the 1960s, interest in the Moon quickly waned. The Google Lunar X Prize is hoping to change that, reinvigorating interest in Moon exploration and colonisation. This time, however, it's different. A $30 million dollar prize is being offered to all citizens of the world, not governmental space corporations, for achieving a successful Moon mission. The initiative is designed to instil a new generation with the wonders and importance of space travel and exploration.

The criteria for winning the prize will involve landing a module on the surface, travelling at least 500 metres, and returning HD images and videos back to Earth. Established in 2007, the mission deadline has been extended to December 2017, with three teams still in contention as of 2016: SpaceIL, Moon Express and Synergy Moon.

A 24-minute fulldome planetarium show, "Back to the Moon for Good", chronicles these teams' efforts as they compete for the coveted prize.
