Doddabommasandra Lake — Attraction in Bengaluru

A very nice park near Chamundeshwari Layout, Vidyaranyapura. Went here in the morning time, most people come here for walks and exercises and to take a breath of fresh air.

Park is huge with lots of greenery and a lake in the middle. There is a jogging track but it it not developed completely, due to recent rains lot of mud on the jogging tracks which makes it difficult to run in a continuous manner.

There is facility for children to play, more than 2 play areas are there. Many sheds are there to take rest or do yoga as well.

Though on the other side of the park I noticed lot of garbage and dirt floating in the lake. BBMP should pay notice to this and clean it which can make the park a huge attraction as well.

Overall a nice place to visit, if you visit morning time, you can also get some fresh vegetables near the park gate on...

(Never understood why these places are not open longer even 5am to 8pm!!! Such a limitation to our country's vision of developing outdoor culture in our country!!!😔😡)

Anyways, this is a very green place, apt for many fitness activities. Pets, cycling and other vehicles are not allowed.

The circumference of the walking path around the lake is more than 2kms, which is awesome for walkers and runners!

However there are couple of improvement opportunities I had in mind. Which are,

Improving the walking tracks, as quite a few areas are broken and become unusable due to rains or water spills.

There are no toilets around the area. This, I feel should be a basic amenity for such a large area.

Long ago, when this lake bund was breached, our house was among those flooded with water, outside. Kids played on floating coconut trees and caught fish. Now there isn't much water. Lots of birds. Cattle egrets, little egrets, Indian pond herons, water hens, drongos, greebs, coots, mynahs, crows, and more. Lots of people come there for a walk. There are many entrances, locate the one close to you. After this wonderful walk, we had snacks in the bakery opposite. It's being developed very nicely. And they are making arrangements to fill it with treated sewage water like other lakes in bengaluru.
