Sri Banashankari Amma Temple — Attraction in Bengaluru

It is the one of the oldest temple of goddess in Bangalore situated in kanakapura road. Here ‘Bana’ is ‘Vana’ which term indicates ‘forest’. The other popular name of Banashankari is Shakambhari. Her idol is made out of black stone. It is located in a crowded area just opposite to the Banashankari Metro station.

It is an amazing experience to be here. It has got a unique spiritual feel to it as you see many families calmly sitting and preparing their pooja thali with cut lemons and ghee, for prayers to the goddess. Devotees throng the temple with strong faith and belief in goddess. Temple poojas are conducted during Rahu Kalam, by lighting lamps with cut lemon fruit and ghee on Tuesdays and Fridays. This is what makes it special as Rahu-Kalam is otherwise considered an inauspicious time for worship. Once the prayer is done, you can put your diyas in the diya stand area that they have made.

Only complaint is the maintenance is not so great. The toilet facilities are also poor. It takes about an hour or so, to complete darshan. Reaching to this temple is very convenient either by metro, bus or car.

Well maintained temple and the ambience is extremely holy and one feels heavenly.. for the uninitiated this is a very old temple and devotees come to this place in hordes.. the entire town is known by the goddess's name Banshankari Amma.. must visit for one who believes that old temples are a mirror of the culture and beliefs of a geography.. please note that this is a very revered temple and of you do visit, please pay respects as per telephonic traditions and customs as instructed by the temple priest.. don't worry about money hawking priests.. there...

Super temple I have never seen before,,, this temple is located near to gt world mall, prasanna theatre and tollgate bus stop,,, this temple is now more famous for devotional places,,,, I love this temple,,, I am visiting this temple from last 5 years,, all poojas are done here,,, some positive energy is always stays here so people love to come here to spend some time and their minds refreshes,,, this temple is more popular than others,,, yearly jaatra Pooja is awesome view from this temple so everyone should visit this temple once...
