Maharaja Ranjit Singh built many famous Gurudwaras, which are now spread over India and Pakistan. Gurudwara Patna Sahib was built in1666 but it was damaged in 1839 due to a fire. Raja Ranjit ordered the reconstruction of the temple but sadly, he did not survive to see its completion. Bad luck struck the Gurudwara again, in the form of a mass earthquake, in 1934. In 1954, the existing structure was raised. It is believed that Patna Sahib is the birth place of the tenth Sikh guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. As a place visited by the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Ji, and also the ninth Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, this shrine is of extreme importance to the Sikhs all over the world. This place is one of the five holy takhat (thrones) of Sikhism. Approachable by all means of transport but the lanes leading to the place are too narrow, you may have to spent some time in traffic. So it is better to take a cab to get isolated from outside. Alight from cab inside the gurudwara parisar( compound) as lane outside is narrow. Parking is provided inside complex.Once you entered the place you are in whole new world, neat and clean everything in order, people around willing to help you. In gurudwara parisar you have to cover your head with cloth or a big hanky so be sure to take one or buy from outside.In no time you will experience the peace of mind. Coming back to the physical world ,first book accommodation ,the office is on right go by the ramp,shoes are allowed in office ,there is a waiting area and booking counter. All sort of accommodation is available Rs .1000 /500/300 and free in different complexes in and around the parisar ,almost all complexes are provided with elevators. Go to allotted complex and fresh n up then come to guru dwara for darshan. Take prasad from the prasad counters (if you wish not necessary) for offering normally karah prasad (halwa) is offered.Get inside darwar sahib(hall where Guru granth sahib , the holy book is kept)and offer prayer and take parikarma and take your time to watch the belongings of guru saheb, the holy well etc. as shown in photos. Experience the meditating power of live kirtan by sitting inside the darwar sahib. Belongings of Guru Govind Singh is displayed in darbar hall everyday at 09:00AM Come out and take prasad distributed at prasad counter if not been taken inside. Take home dry prasad in form of pinni(laddu) or panjiri is also available on prasad counters. Camera is allowed but no selfies in darbar hall. Gurudwara is having beautiful marvel architecture outside and nice gold and other embroidery inside darbar hall which you will love to capture in photographs.
