Shree Rajrajeshwari Maa Mahamaya Devi Mandir is one of the most sacred and revered places in Raipur, drawing devotees from across the region. The temple exudes a powerful spiritual aura, with its serene atmosphere and beautifully adorned idol of Maa Mahamaya, believed to be a form of Goddess Durga. The rituals and aarti performed here fill the air with devotion, offering a deeply peaceful experience to all visitors.

In terms of facilities, the temple provides clean drinking water, shoe-keeping stalls, and designated areas for devotees to sit and meditate. However, access to the temple can be challenging due to the narrow roads leading up to it, often crowded with hawkers and street vendors. This congestion not only makes it difficult for devotees, especially the elderly, but also affects the overall sanctity of the surroundings. It would be commendable if the Raipur Municipal Corporation takes cognizance of this issue and works towards better crowd management and cleaner access routes.

Historically, the Mahamaya Mandir dates back to the 11th century, built during the reign of the Kalachuri dynasty. The temple holds immense historical significance and is believed to be a symbol of the city’s ancient heritage and cultural pride.

Despite the access challenges, the divine energy and historical charm of this temple make it a must-visit for anyone seeking spiritual...

Mahamaya mandir is one of the most oldest temples of Raipur city. This temple is located at mahamaya para , purana basti, Raipur. It is somewhat 4-5 km away from railway station. This temple is very old and very big. This temple is dedicated to Maa Mahamaya. Mahamaya Devi has several forms ( roops ) and in this temple she has Maha Kali Devi Roop. The garbh graha of the temple has tantric architecture. During Navratri there is lot of rush in the temple. During Navratri more than 10000 sacred diyas burn for goddess for nine days. This temple has lot of Jyoti kaksh where these diyas are kept. All nine days of Navratri, jagarata is organised. This is very good and very big temple of Raipur. Parking place is available here but during Navratri there is problem. All offerings to goddess is available at temple premises. Overall it's a very good, very big and famous temple of...

Dated 22sept 2025 the first day of Navratri visited around 8.30 pm with my spouse . Seen mismanagement, the 4 to 5 young boys were entered in the female que and no one from the mandir staff has taken action on this even some female wete entering in the middle of que no female staff was there.

Also noticed at the time of arti procession all their कार्यकर्ता were also involved in the arti and no one outside to monitor the crowd .

We can't even thing to visit our foreign guest to this mandir in such a very poor management...

Mahamaya mandir during navratri festival. This is a tourist spot in chattisgarh. Many people from outside the state come to visit this temple. The main festival that attracts crowd is navratri. Because this is a holy mata (goddess) mandir. Thousands of diyas are lit during navratri season. People have to provide some donation in order to have diyas lit in their name. Do visit if you come to raipur. 😊
