Kashi Mutt — Attraction in Goa

​The Kashi Mutt in Bandora, Ponda, serves as the Goa branch of the esteemed Shree Kashi Math Samsthan, headquartered in Varanasi. Its presence in Goa, established in 1973 under the guidance of H.H. Shrimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji, provides a crucial religious hub for the local Vaishnava Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community.

​Architecturally, the structure is modest yet traditional, reflecting Goan residential styles adapted for spiritual use, featuring a prominent tiled roof and a simple, elevated balcony with subtle arched carvings, as seen in the photos. This design provides a tranquil atmosphere suitable for the ascetic life of the Swamijis and visiting devotees.

​The Samsthan adheres strictly to the Dwaita philosophy founded by Madhvacharya. The principal deities worshipped are the Charaprathishta idols of Lord Shri Veda Vyasa and Lord Shri Rama (Raghupati). These deities symbolize the Math's focus on Vedic knowledge and the Guru shishya tradition. ​ Beyond worship, the Mutt acts as an administrative and welfare center, offering services like Teertha Prasada, accommodation for devotees, and facilities for rituals (Pooja and Shrardh).
