Our recent three-night stay at Figueiredo Mansion with family was simply enchanting! Nestled away from the tourist hustle, the Figueiredo Mansion is a hidden treasure. Ms. Fatima and her son Pedro have done a laudable job in restoring and maintaining this precious heritage building that was initially constructed in the 16th Century. Their dedication to preserving its rich history is evident, with countless artifacts beautifully displayed, each telling its own unique story. Pedro's guided tour of the museum section of the building enriched our understanding of Goan history, both pre and post Portuguese era. At the museum part of the building we also got the opportunity to have our five-course Portuguese dinner specially curated by Ms. Fatima and warmly hosted by Pedro. Dining at such a historic venue that has hosted monarchs/ political heads of Portugal, G20 action group members, several Indian celebrities etc. was an unforgettable experience. As far as stay is concerned, all the rooms at Figueiredo Mansion are unique, they are thoughtfully named after members from previous 17 generations of Figueiredo family. For example, the 'Georgina' room honors the first female judge in British India from the Figueiredo lineage. With personal involvement of the family, the service levels are superb. Pedro with his charming simile was always there to address all sorts of request made by us and ensure that our stay there is memorable. We were delighted to have home like adrak-masala tea that most of us did not expect at an old Goan house:) We will definitely like to plan another visit at this place, hoping to stay even longer and fully immerse ourselves in the Mansion's old-world charm.

No visit to South Goa is replete without a visit to the most iconic Figueredo House. This landmark Mansion is by far the most well preserved , and lavish by the most influential family of Goa for over 400 years. A nominal fee takes you on a journey and labour of love to preserve Portuguese heritage and grand lifestyle that still lingers. The mansion surrounded by fields leads to a grand entrance and labyrinth of rooms which includes the Grand Ballroom, and Dining Room. Precious artefacts and chandeliers from all over the world are proudly displayed. The Mansion got to be inspected with a connoisseur's eye and can't miss out the detailing of grandeur. Airbnb facilities of several rooms that lead out to a garden area and pool is a great experience to relive the past. Meeting the present owners Fatima and son who proudly showcase the great past with intense zeal is the highlight of the tour as they take you around.

We visited this place in the month of August-2023. This is a more than 430 years old house constructed with Portuguese architecture and still standing strong. This belongs to one of the influential families of Goa. This is situated in a quiet village of South Goa called Loutolim. The manager gave us a tour of this house which contains a museum which is open for public and there are rooms which are rented out as a homestay. He explained about the history of this house and details about the family, their roots and about the present owners. The museum and the homestay contains very precious and beautiful artifacts and olden days furniture worth seeing. There is so much to see and enjoy here that one can easily spend 1-2 hours time. There is an entry ticket of Rs.300 per head for people visiting the museum. Even though this place is less explored and not many visitors come here, one should try not to miss.

This stunning estate home (and 9-room Airbnb) is known as Figueiredo Mansion, or Figueiredo House. It was built by the Jesuits in the 1500s, and it's out in the middle of nowhere (in the best way possible), surrounded by lush jungle and natural beauty. The home has been in the Figueiredo family for 13 generations, and part of the estate is still occupied by Maria de Fatima Figueiredo de Albuquerque, who hosts guests after an extraordinary life abroad (I won't spoil the surprise by sharing the stories here). The museum tour alone is worth a visit, but even more so if you call to plan lunch in advance. While we did not stay overnight, after touring the property, including the unoccupied rooms, we will absolutely return to stay overnight in the future, as this special place is truly a rare treasure. Highest possible recommendation!

We visited the museum for a tour and really enjoyed our visit. Our guide, Constancio, who himself had a great history with the mansion and the family, was very friendly, helpful and courteous. We really enjoyed learning about the family, their history and the architecture. The family's collection and story really caught our interest and became one of the top highlights of our week long trip to Goa. The place is easy to find and located opposite a peaceful stretch of farm like land. Recommend everyone to add this to their must-visit items when visiting Goa.
