Khan Masjid, also known as Alif Khan Masjid, is a remarkable piece of Gujarat's rich architectural heritage, located in the historic town of Dholka. Built in 1453 by Alif Khan Bhukai, a noble in Sultan Mahmud Begada's court, the mosque stands as an impressive example of medieval Indo-Islamic architecture.

The mosque's design features three large domes and intricately carved stonework, reflecting the grandeur of Sultanate-era craftsmanship. The twin minarets flanking the entrance add to its imposing presence, offering a glimpse into the artistic brilliance of that period. Despite the passage of time and some wear and tear, the structure still retains its charm and continues to captivate history and architecture enthusiasts.

Visitors can admire the mosque's intricate detailing, from the ornate arches to the beautifully carved pillars. The atmosphere within the mosque is peaceful and offers a sense of serenity, making it an ideal place for those interested in history, spirituality, or photography.

Although some areas of the mosque show signs of neglect, efforts to preserve this historical gem are ongoing. The mosque has also served as a venue for cultural events, such as Sufi festivals, adding to its cultural significance.

Overall, Khan Masjid is a must-visit for anyone exploring Gujarat's architectural treasures. Whether you're a history buff or a traveler seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations, this mosque is...

The Alif Khan mosque, also referred to as Alkif Khan Bhukai or Khan-ki masjid, is a massive brick building, dating from the period of Sultan Mahmud Begarha (r.1458-1511) and constructed by Alif Khan Bhukai, a childhood friend of Mahmud Begarha. The original structure consisted of two square solid minarets, one on each end of the façade. The mosque’s interior consists of three square halls, each enclosed with a massive dome. The interior measures 150 by 42 feet. The central mihrab, or prayer niche, is flanked by two windows decorated with perforated...

Even a word giant is so small to define this structure. Unfortunately authority is not interested to preserve such historical places. I visited frequently to this place and whenever I climb to the top notch it gives me a ultimate peace in my mind. Lake behind this mosque is also beautiful. Ayat of Quraan can be observed on wall of this mosque. 3 giant doms looks so heavy I wonder how did they built this in those time without machines. I request govt to kindly look after this place and take some necessary step to maintain and enhance beauty of...

Absolutely mesmerizing historical place. It needs heavy maintenance. Department of heritage should look into it. Details on the walls are indeed great skills. One can see aayat of Quran written on walls and above gates/frames. Khan Lake (ખાન તળાવ)behind the tomb is also very wast but no one maintains it. It was built in Sultanate era. Sultan Mohammed Begada was the one incharge 1459-1511. We saw many Different kind of Birds here.Truly a beautiful place.

A unique structure by way of its huge side structures and dome positions. Location opposite the pond and presence of two Chhatris or mandaps in same area with a huge entrance in one premises of Khan talav are under ASI development. The grill and window designs are eye catching and attractive. ASI is yet to reveal a lot more structures and it’s relevance to our historical and medieval importance. Must visit place at Dholka. Enjoy.
