Where is the real Shivling of Somnath? one story said, The original shiv ling was broken into pieces and taken to multiple places around the world. According to history, one piece lies under the steps of a mosque in Afghanistan and the second piece is under the steps of Jama masjid, Delhi. Other story says that the shiv ling in Mecca was the one from Somnath. Now it is not the Swayambhu (self manifested) Ling. The Pran Pratishtha (ceremony to invite deity to present in idol by way of mantras) ceremony of present Ling was performed in presence of Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Mughal invaders destroyed the temple numerous times, looted the valuables and broke the Shiv Ling. In conversation with locals, everyone has a different story to say. Some say that Self manifested Shiv Ling was thrown into the sea. Some say that it was broken and pieces were scattered away. So the present Ling is not the self manifested Ling. However, the Aura, the Divinity, the Vibrations , the Powers, the Faith remain the same. The credit for reconstruction of Jyotirling, with which faith of millions of Hindus is associated including me, goes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. * Somnath temple About Place: The intricately carved honey-colored Somnath temple on the western edge of the state is believed to be the place where the first of the twelve holy jyotirlingas emerged in India – a spot where Shiva appeared as a fiery column of light. Location- The Somnath temple is located along the coastline in Prabhas Patan, Veraval, Saurashtra region of Gujarat. It is about 400 kilometres (249 mi) southwest of Ahmedabad, 82 kilometres (51 mi) south of Junagadh – another major archaeological and pilgrimage site in Gujarat. Mahmud Ghazni has plundered and destroyed Somnath Temple 17 times along with other temples in his attacks. Mahmud Ghazni was the King of Ghazni (Afghanistan) who ruled there from 999-1030 AD. He plundered a lot many kingdoms and temples of India. If you are short on time, you can cover both Dwarka Somnath tour in 3-4 days. Embarked on a transformative journey to Shree Somenath Jyotirling Temple, and it turned out to be the best weekend of my life. The 10-hour scenic route from Ahmedabad Geeta Mandir, traversed in a comfortable AC sleeper bus (priced at 600 INR), set the tone for the upcoming spiritual retreat. Opted for a two-day stay at a hotel, investing 1000 INR, excluding meals. The anticipation heightened as I approached the temple, only to encounter a unique security measure—electronics were to be left outside. After a meticulous check and a brief waiting period, I stepped into the temple premises. The temple's interior is a testament to architectural brilliance, adorned with intricate details that hold historical and spiritual significance. The soul-stirring instrumental music resonates through the air, creating an indescribable, ear-pleasing ambiance. It's a sensory experience that transcends the ordinary. Beyond the temple, the surrounding places share the same divine aura, offering a serene escape. Visiting nearby spots like Triveni Sangam and Dehotsarg Tirth added layers to the spiritual journey, each place contributing to the overall serenity. The atmosphere is not just calming; it's a profound disconnect from the relentless hustle of the outside world. It's an oasis of peace, allowing for introspection and spiritual rejuvenation. Adding to the overall charm are the warm and welcoming people, creating an environment of inclusivity and shared spirituality. Every corner explored seemed to unfold a new layer of the rich cultural and religious tapestry. Venturing into nearby places enriched the experience, providing a comprehensive understanding of the spiritual significance of the region. Shree Somenath Jyotirling Temple isn't merely a destination; it's a transformative journey, a sanctuary for the soul, leaving an indelible mark on the essence of the weekend.

Venturing on my Himalayan bike from Belagavi to Shree Somnath Jyotirling Temple was not just a road trip; it was a soul-stirring pilgrimage that combined the thrill of the ride with the spiritual aura of one of the holiest shrines in India. The road from Belagavi to Somnath, winding through diverse landscapes, showcased the Himalayan's prowess on varied terrains. The sturdy bike, with its powerful engine, provided a smooth and exhilarating ride, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination itself. Arriving at Shree Somnath Jyotirling Temple, the majestic structure against the backdrop of the Arabian Sea was a sight to behold. The bike's engine fell silent as I entered the temple complex, replaced by the sounds of devotional hymns and the soothing crash of waves—a seamless transition from the open road to a sacred haven. Exploring the temple premises on the Himalayan, I discovered pockets of tranquility amidst the vibrant spiritual activity. The well-maintained gardens and viewpoints offered a peaceful space for contemplation, allowing me to absorb the sanctity of the surroundings. I have visited Somnath temple recently, in the month of December that time the climate was cool and breezy as all, we know Somnath temple is Lord Shiva temple and it is believed to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India, it is located in Gujarat. The best part of the temple is located on the seashore. The temple was destroyed so many times by the Portuguese in the ancient period. Finally, it was reconstructed in the year 1951. now it is protected by the government very carefully. We are not allowed to take any of our things inside the temple like cameras, mobiles etc. Best time to visit the temple is in the evening because we can sit in the temple and enjoy the view of the sea. in the night time around 8, they are conducting light and sound show, in that they are delivering the history of the temple and the importance. The entry ticket for the show is about 25 to 30rs. The temple was built with gold, diamonds, ruby and some other valuable stones in the ancient period but the Portugues theft and destroyed the temple. now the temple is constructed in the Chalukya style. they have constructed some mandapas at the side of the temple, In that, they have made the story of Lord Shiva. that one was very informative. Everyone has to visit this temple. if you’re not a devote then you should visit the place for its architectural style and mesmerizing beauty.

Simply indescribable in words as you have to come to this divine place to feel and perceive it with your open and deep senses. The legend of this temple goes in antiquity spanning beyond million of years which may puzzle a person who is outside the purview of Sanatani fold but then the importance of its antiquity is upheld by the fact that it was targeted numerous times by the invaders and asuras who wanted to earn the title for them amongst their evil communities . The grandeur and splendour of the temple only increased with each recurrent destruction and it continues to draw the devotees from all around the world . The Jyotirlinga is hyperphysical and the mere sight of it enamours you from deep down inside . Once put one is unable to put his sight off from the Jyotirlinga and the voice comes from the deep abyss of your soul "Jai Somnath" The architecture is marvellous and the capacity to meditate multiplies manifold as you will find invisible energies assisting you to connect with infinity almost immediately. Once you close your eyes the shimmering orange light sent you through a tunnel of silver and deep blue colour and then a bang as everything behind your close eyes becomes as white as pearl and when you wake up from the meditation it seems that you woke up after months or years .
