Kufri Adventure Park Package charges ₹1500 per person for a ride either by car or horse, but given the very bad road conditions, cars such as Maruti Jimmy or Gypsy are preferable. Additionally, there is a ₹50 per person charge by the Himachal Forest Department for cleaning the area, but overall, the experience is not worth the price.
During the ₹1500 ride in off-road vehicles, you arrive at Apple Point where apple trees are visible but mostly dried with small apples, making the site underwhelming. The package includes two complimentary adventure activities per person such as ziplining, elephant walk, commando walk, or rope climbing from elevated platforms and other personcan do remaining activityof other member. However, these rides felt unsafe due to minimal monitoring and low ground clearance during zipline requiring constant bending of knees. The elephant walk platform also appears unsafe.
After that your driver take you to the Mahashu Peak. At the top view point there is for an additional ₹200 per person to view 11 points through a telescopic lens, but this was not worth it. A small temple nearby could be the Nag Temple or Koteshwari Mata Temple. Local vendor Mehar Sharma sells authentic Himachali dried fruits here, which are worth buying.
Avoid trying siddu or other local foods in the area, as one can easily get ill, as I experienced food poisoning after eating siddu.
After the activities, you are dropped off at the parking area. Beware that the road condition is very poor throughout the journey. Visiting this park in October is not recommended because of the hot weather and these factors combined make the overall experience disappointing. Entire feel trip like...
Read moreThis place is a rip-off! It also has the potential of being dangerous or causing an accident. From the moment you arrive it is absolute chaos with many men touting for business. We do not speak Hindi so there was also a language barrier. It is not clear what you are getting for your money. The pony ride is about 15 minutes long up a steep, boulder strewn dusty path. There are hundreds of ponies who are not treated well, being constantly whipped (one had a rock thrown at it). 1/2 way up you have to pay a small fee, not sure what for. At the top you pay again and there are no signs to the apple garden, zip line or whatever else you were promised. It is an amateur chaotic shambles of food/souvenir tents. Poor yaks are standing the day long with no food for paid photo opportunities. You can’t even look at the view without having to pay. The apple garden is laughable being down a steep, dusty uneven path. It’s pathetic and in late November there are no leaves or apples on the trees. The zip wire is also here but is only a short distance and isn’t very safe. To go back you to need to ascend the dusty steep path but there are money grabbing drivers who charge the earth to take you back up. Even the temple is shut and fenced off. And given it’s a long drive from Shimla, why bother? It’s a classic case of locals milking what little they have to make a quick buck. Be warned, the descent on the pony is a scary, dangerous event, the man guiding our ponies down was a complete nutter whose only thought was to get down as quickly as possible in order to pick up the next...
