Animal Welfare Concerns.
The aviary is visually appealing, but I am highly dissatisfied with the care provided to the animals inside. Who thought it was a good idea to place rabbits and guinea pigs in an aviary with large birds like macaws? Most of these small mammals appeared sick, and we even saw two visibly unwell rabbits confined together in a cramped cage.
Since rabbits and guinea pigs stay on the ground, they are at risk of being stepped on or injured by visitors due to ineffective barriers. Children can also easily reach through these barriers, potentially causing harm to the animals.
Another major concern is their diet. All the animals, including birds, rabbits, and guinea pigs, are reportedly fed the same diet of fruits and seeds. This is inappropriate, as their nutritional needs differ significantly. Providing species-specific diets could help prevent illnesses and improve their overall health.
Rabbits and guinea pigs, being domesticated breeds, should not be kept in such an environment in the first place. This setup is unsuitable and poses risks to their well-being.
These issues are just a few among many problems at the zoo. For instance, the monkeys are kept surrounded by stagnant water, and iguanas are given only small tubs to sustain themselves. There is also an elderly elephant in poor physical and mental condition, seemingly kept on display despite its obvious suffering.
Since the aviary has gained significant popularity, I felt it was important to highlight these concerns. I urge the zoo owners and zookeepers to address these issues promptly. Additionally, I request the Nagar Nigam of Indore to conduct a thorough inspection of the zoo to ensure the animals' welfare is...

Indore Zoo was a delightful experience ā far beyond what I expected! Itās not just about the lions, tigers, and bears; what truly amazed me were the lesser-known species that I had never seen before.
As I strolled through the well-maintained pathways, I came across some rare and almost mystical creatures. One that caught my eye looked like a cross between a deer and a zebra ā turns out it was an Okapi, an incredibly elusive animal found in Central Africa! I had only read about it in books.
Another jaw-dropper was a peculiar-looking bird with bright blue feathers and an unusually shaped beak ā possibly a Shoebill Stork (though I had to Google it later). It just stood still with an intense stare ā like a statue watching you!
There was also a reptile enclosure with a lizard that looked like a mini-dragon, known as the Armadillo Girdled Lizard. Its armor-like body and defensive posture were something right out of a fantasy novel.
What made the experience even better was that the zoo had good signage and information boards that helped me understand more about these animals ā many of which are endangered or extremely rare.
Perfect for families, wildlife lovers, and curious explorers alike. Donāt forget to take your camera and a bit of patience ā you never know what unknown wonders...
