I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bootapathri in Gulmarg, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled amidst the stunning snow-capped peaks of the Pir Panjal Range, Bootapathri is a hidden gem that offers a pristine and untouched winter wonderland.
First and foremost, the natural beauty of Bootapathri is simply breathtaking. As I stepped foot into this picturesque valley, I was greeted by a panoramic view of snow-covered meadows and towering pine trees. The tranquility and serenity of the surroundings instantly made me feel at peace. The crisp mountain air and the peaceful ambiance created a perfect setting for a winter retreat.
The skiing and snowboarding opportunities in Bootapathri are world-class. The powdery snow here is ideal for both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts. The slopes cater to various skill levels, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their time on the slopes. The well-maintained ski resorts and professional instructors further enhance the experience, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
One of the highlights of Bootapathri is the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable car rides in the world. The ride takes you to an elevation of over 13,000 feet, offering awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It's a truly exhilarating experience, and I highly recommend taking the ride for a unique perspective on the breathtaking beauty of this region.
The hospitality of the locals in Bootapathri is warm and welcoming. They take pride in sharing their culture and traditions with visitors, making the experience even more enriching. The local cuisine, especially the Kashmiri delicacies, is a treat for the taste buds. Don't miss the opportunity to savor traditional dishes like Rogan Josh, Yakhni, and the famous Kashmiri Kahwa tea.
While Bootapathri is primarily known for its winter activities, it also has a lot to offer in other seasons. Spring and summer bring lush greenery and blooming flowers, creating a scenic landscape for nature enthusiasts. There are plenty of hiking trails and picnic spots to explore, allowing visitors to reconnect with nature and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
It's worth noting that Bootapathri is still a relatively lesser-known destination, which adds to its charm. Unlike crowded tourist hotspots, it offers a sense of seclusion and intimacy that allows you to immerse yourself in nature and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Bootapathri in Gulmarg is a hidden paradise that deserves recognition. Whether you're an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or simply seeking a peaceful getaway, Bootapathri has something to offer. The stunning landscapes, thrilling winter activities, warm hospitality, and untouched beauty make it a must-visit destination. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have experienced Bootapathri, and I can't wait to return to this winter...
Read moreThis is a Indian Army protected area and it is near the border. To reach the LOC,you need to take Pony ride and you cannot go by car or by walking as the Army donot allow. Permission is required to go to this place. Please be careful with the local tourist taxi drivers as they charge alot and cheat general tourists.I was stopped in the entrance gate of Gulmarg itself and we were almost forced to take a different car from them.I was asked to give Rs.7000 but after bargain they accepted to take Rs.5000 and assured us to show all the places but unfortunately the driver cheated us very badly. Please donot trust them. Please directly go to the counters and donot even stop at the entrance gate if they ask you. The price of local sight seeing is maximum Rs.2000 to 3000 and not more than that and in the main border cars cannot even go and if you take Gondola ride than that too is diffrent as you don't even need a car. Please be careful while you visit this place and take decissions carefully. I have attached the car number of my taxi driver and if you find him, than pleaseee avoid this driver. He is not trust worthy and tries to loot tourists. He didnot even showed us the places properly.I hope my review helps you in taking a better decisson. Have a great...
Read moreWe traveled to Gulmarg in the second week of April. Buta Pathri is the place that you can go if you missed booking the online tickets for Gandola Rides. Do not take the Horse rides available as they are pretty boring and chances are you have to sit on the horse under the sun in clear skies. Buta Pathri is located approximately 4km ahead of the Gulmarg Gold club. To reach this place you need to take a union cab. We paid ₹1000 per person for a cab for 6 people. The driver needs to take a permit for entering the army area. The process of taking a permit and then getting the entry approved took around 1 and a half hours. Also these permits are time bound and you only get 2 hours to go and come back from Buta Pathri. After the entry you will go to 3 different points: Nagin pt 1,2 and Buta Pathri. Nagin points are very scenic and you will get good pictures here. Adventure activities like sledge rides and assisted skiing are also available at Nagin points. Buta Pathri only has a small stream of water and the famous Jab Tak Hai Jaan bridge. Overall it's a decent alternative to enjoy snow in gulmarg if you don't have the gondola...
