HISTORY OF THIS PLACE (As i know ): Major-general Clement Delves Hill (6 December 1781 – 20 January 1845) was a British Army Officer who fought at the 1815 Battle of Waterloo and later saw service in India. Hill died at the falls of Guersoppa in the Indian state of Karnataka on 20 January 1845 aged 63 and was buried at Honavar on the 22 January. There is a colossal monument erected in honour of Colonel Hill in Honavar. The monument is a 30-metre (98 ft) tall column popularly known as Colonel Hill Pillar. [5][6][7] Locals are trying hard to preserve the column and grave in Honavar. (☝️ Source from Wikipedia). AT PRESENT : few years ago it was a nice place , there were so many kids came to play and visit this place , am also when i was a kid , when this place is such a beautiful and its feels like heaven for kids but now it is ruined . only the piller was there . but the garden is moved to another place that is Little far away from that place . but at present also this is a historical place , only the historical lovers can understand the feeling on that place .

Hey already lot of people written about history so i will skip that. You can find this monument upon entering Honnavara city either from talaguppa or Kumta means its just 100m away from the Circle. For more ref. I can quote Kamat hotel. From circle walk in Kumta road for 100m. Then you can see a small road on the right side of the road behind tha banyan tree. On Left side of the road, you can see some stairs beside the house. Follow the steps (approx 40 steps) you will reach the destination. Good place to visit, but complete place is neglected by the authorities. As others suggested not a good place to visit in night. Must visit in Honnavar. Dont miss it

Good place to watch sunset. This is a monument erected for Colonel Hill of British Army. Their chief commander (Colonel Hill) was killed on January 20, 1854 during a battle with the queen of Gerusoppa. The British erected a colossal column in the Colonel’s honor on a hillock in Honnavar in 1854. As of today, this column and the poorly-maintained surrounding park are visited by tourists. Reaching this point from National Highway No. 66 involves climbing a few dozen stairs. Even though this monument is within Honnavar town limits, at times it can be a deserted place. So, it is advisable to visit this place during daytime and in groups. Stairway to the site is not in a good condition but it should not be a problem for young people. This point provides beautiful views of Arabian Sea, Honnavar town and mountains. And yes, remember to return immediately after sunset and do not wait until it is dark as it may become difficult to climb down stairways in a poorly lit...
