I was surprised to see that they charge 200Rs to walk through the Glass Bridge for just 10 minutes. I don't know what others have to say but this isn't appreciated.
I visited this place by reading the Google reviews but when I went there, I realized that most people have not shared the whole truth. So I decided to be honest with each and everyone here.
There are two types of entry passes. Glass Bridge visit - 200Rs. Per-person. Plantation visit. 200Rs. Per-person.
There is an additional parking fee as well. I don't remember the exact amount but it was somewhere around 50-60Rs.
The glass bridge tour is just for 10 mins maximum. There will be a queue depending on the number of people visiting that day. On weekends it will be more. They allow a few people at a time to go through the Glass Bridge. You can take pictures, look around and come back. A maximum of 10 minutes is allotted to one group.
The plantation visit is around 20-30 mins. There is a tour guide who will take you through and he will explain everything. You can ask questions and learn more if you are interested in it.
The tour guide was a good person, he was very friendly, and he knew Hindi and English as well. He had a pleasant personality and he explained everything in detail. We went in November so we could only see the Coffee plantations and Pepper plantations. (I believe they have many more like Vanilla, cocoa, elaichi, etc)
February is the right time if you wanna see vanilla and cocoa as per the tour guide.
They did not offer anything complimentary. The cafe was closed. (under renovation) and until then, they won't serve any complimentary items.
I don't know if you will find this place worth the penny that you'll be spending but I believe that everyone should know the reality before visiting this place. I'm sure there are much better plantations in Coorg and if you know of any, please choose to visit them...
Read moreVisit to the pappy's coorg plantation was one of the best memories from our tour to Coorg... First of all its very near to Madikeri Town and on the way to Talacauvery/Tadiandamol Peak. Here you will get to know lots of unknown/unheard facts about the Coffee. Variety of trees are available in this plantation. Two types of coffee plants are - Arabica and Robosta. I, myself saw tree of Black Pepper, Vannila and pine apple for the first time. Oak tree which is used to manufacture Cricket bats and Avocado are also there!! Bird eye chilli plant was awesome and estate included sample a tree which is primary ingredient of Red Bull..
Thanks to Mr Sadashiv for his knowledgeable Session. He offers the tour in and around the estate for 45 minutes explaining minute details of coffee and other plants/trees. Charges are 200 rs per head. At the end these guys will offer you coffee with jaggery.
Scenery is fantastic and you can view Rajajis Park and Raja seat from the estate. Even you can wear traditional Kodagu attire and click photos here. Enjoyed very much!!
I would recommend to go for this to everyone...
Read moreThe fact that there is such a luch green variety of food forest in a coffee plantation itself is a marvel. I loved the tour, the knowledge sharing and the generosity of the owners in sharing seeds for my own farm. What I liked most was the warmth and eagerness to share and that makes this place special, unlike other commercial coffee plantations in Coorg and otherwise. The price set for the entry 200 rupees is rather nominal for the kind of information, coffee and time one gets to spend on the farm. I wonder why people complain of paying when it is the least the visitors can do to help the farmer and owner, who are giving their time, sweat and blood to keep the Earth happy. Its better to pay 200 than waste 400 on an absolutely useless cup of Starbucks coffee. For me 200 was an investment I made to learn more about coffee, how its grown, what are the other plant species that grown with it and so much more. Thank you for showing us around. Would love to visit again and spend more time if possible and also meet the owners personally and learn if that is a possiblity....
