Β Β Β Read moreamazing drive on a rainy day to Kailashagiri, with kids in tow, waking up early to a heavy clouded day, perfect one for the drive. Hit the hoskote toll plaza with line of 10+ cars in each lane, the fasttag is really being useless for wait times (does save the handling notes/change only). Interestingly there is another toll plaza before Chintamani that only takes cash, with pot-holed roads, so no idea why toll is being charged. Anyways google maps take to right to the place, and if you want to enjoy the peace, do reach early. Road is pretty good, except the last 4-5 km. We saw the priest coming little before 11, when we were returning β that gives you the idea how early to reach to enjoy. At 9am we had the whole place to ourselves, ample parking space. Nothing much to do except sitting there and enjoying the scenery, peace and great clean chill air. Now, if you are the adventurous types and have a 4x4 there is a wide-enough dirt track just before the parking lot which goes several km up β did see couple of 4x4 come down, and many bikes. Anyways being the hiking types, and not having much physical exercise from the lockdown, all of us decided to walk for an hour uphill and enjoy the awesome climate, clean air and amazing views and returned just in time to see the crowds building up. The dirt road takes you to Ambaji durga. Edit Jan'25 - dirt road is wide enough and motorable by 2WD cars also, to the beautiful Anjaneya temple about 4-5km from starting point (though if you want to enjoy the scenery you can walk the distance). From the Temple you can see the fort (Durg/ Durga) at the top of the hill, its 20min walk half on dirt road and half stairs/rocks - but the views from top are...
