Kundawada Lake is about 1.0 km away from Davanagere city. This water body lies between 75◦53' of east longitude and 14◦27' of north latitude. Kunduwada lake has an expanse of 265 acres. It was a minor irrigation tank irrigating about 75 hectares of land. Entire water was drained out in 2002, desilting done and bund was constructed all around the tank. After completion of the desilting work, Bhadra canal water 0.2 TMC was channelized to flow purely on gravity and treatment plant was constructed downstream. This was designed with a inflow of 20 million liters per day and total holding capacity of 3000 mlt ,which could cover the need of city’s water supply for at least for 4 months . The total length of the bund is about 4.9 kms. The project was executed at an approximate cost of 6 crores.

Read moreGood place for morning and evening walks for west Davangere people. The place is quite and great place for peace lovers , the fitness enthusiast people can avail basic gym (exercise equipments) at the entrance and even at peripheral part of Lake. The place is completely free for public use and well maintained by the Davangere municipal. I estimate the radius of Lake is around 400 to 500 m and is a artificial lake developed to supply the water to that region of Davangere. The popular ' glass house ' is situated just outside the lake premises. For children who wish to cycle can bring their cycle for lake tour. A whole new economics has started to build around this lake mainly the morning breakfast and healthy and not so healthy eatables and for the soft beverage lovers you can find plenty of tea and coffee lounges( I suggest not to add sugar if you are visiting this lake to keep...

The lake provides drinking water to the Davanagere town. But there were tons of dead fishes floating on the shore. God save the city.
Also there are heaps of plastic garbage lying either side of the entry which is unpleasant and not welcoming.
Hope the concerned authorities take note of this message and make it a...
