Savina Durga, means it's Hill of death.

If you are planning to go for a trek here following are some strict instructions. Total trek length is around 3km from temple to Nandi statue in the top. There are 4 levels each divided by fort. Level 1 where you see the fort door (1st waterbottle vendors place) Level 2 where you see 2nd water bottle vendor place. Level 3 where you see actual fort Level 4 where you see a Small temple with Nandi idol.

Rocks will be Hoter in some time of the day and in summer.

1.If you have any respiratory condition,This place is not for you to trek. You can trek until 1st level. Beyond its very difficult to get any sort of help in severe conditions.

2.you need to wear good quality trekking shoes which offer proper grip on any surface.if you still want to trek with slippers and sports shoes you might need to have a health insurance or life insurance in case of a slip.(2nd level to 4th level of the trek)

3.water and electrolytes- keep them handy as trek will drain out most of your body water as sweat. At level 1 and 2, you will find vendors selling water and softdrinks (200ml limka costs 50rs)1ltr water costs 40-60.

Better wear polarized sunglasses if you are starting trekking after 1130am.

5.Dont take elders Children below 10 years beyond level 2.climbing will be easy but depending will be very difficult.

Now coming to the experience,it's a fair trek for people who exercise daily and they will say it as a moderately difficult trek. People who occasionally workout, aerobics are neglected will feel the treak difficult.

The view from each level elevates its beauty as you climb to all levels.

Stay safe stay attentive and vigilant, have a great...

Horrible experience. Never heading out in that part of Karnataka again.

There were some folks who got stuck in the rocks up on the peak. Nobody knew exactly why. The fire station/rescue responsible for Savanadurga were called. While carrying rescue gear to the peak, they proceeded to assault and hit the trekkers they met on their way up, who were only minding their own business and not disturbing rescue operations.

I was just walking down, and one of the fire station officers called me, asked my name, and then hit me on the back of my head. Another officer in a white uniform did the same. These blows were pretty hard and hurt a lot. I feel sorry for the families of these officers and wish that nobody ever goes here. When i tried talking about this to the fire station officer stationed at the base of the mountain, one old village lady told me that it's our own fault that we were here in the evening. It was 5.30 pm and the sun was up till 6.45 pm.

Another trekker said he smelled alcohol on the officers.

While I have had an awesome experience staying in Bangalore, and the state officers have been super nice, this incident will make me think twice about trusting them.

In all, please avoid Savanadurga. Not worth it. There are plenty of excellent mountains nearby. If you do get in trouble, please call a lawyer or a good contact before contacting the fire brigade for help. They are not to be trusted. Unprofessional and...

The fort of way is dangerous for real, but it comes with a choice. Savandurga is the largest monolith in Asia, its the rock climbers and trekkers paradise. Its called fort of death because of the inclination on the rock, making it difficult to climb. There are many routes to reach this place, we chose via Dodda Aaladamara (That's Big Banyan Tree). On Mysore road take diversion on right to reach Big Banyan tree, continue to reach the beautiful Manchanbele Dam aka MB Dam, further with tricky roads it leads to Savandurga. Its amidst forest region, at the bottom there is old a Narasimha Swamy temple, on foot way continuing from temple it leads to the rocks. The Main rock is split into two the white rock and the black rock due to ageing. One of the trek route inclination is up to 70 degrees other moderately difficult, but inclination is trek able. We tried the 70 degree route ending with torn shoes, some villagers climb with bare foot on this route!! It takes lot of energy to climb this route we were accompanied with drizzling rain. There is Anjaneya temple on the way with many old fort ruins, mostly built during Kempe Gowda's reign. With lot of excitment and fun we reached the peak of the monolith, the view from here is worth climbing and the zephyr was soothing. There is a old Nandi temple with a huge bell which adds to the peaceful...

This place is great for the people who is looking for some adventures hike to go in. The place was very good and I really had some new experience. Although the place was stiff and it was a moderate hike as you can climb up on little high slope mountains on regular basis as there was not much of flat space to walk. During all the time you are just climbing up. And it has little slippery mountain so if you are planning to go just make sure you wear good shoes and gloves too. As I wasn't wearing gloves so I hurt my hands because I was crawling maximum time due to the slippery surface so I would suggest please Carry gloves with you. Also I would like to say please Carry enough water with you because you will need it. Although you will get it in the middle of hike sold by some hawkers there and once you reach top you can water and fruit juice there too. When you half way you will feel amazing because the view is great from there and there is one temple on the top so after you reach on the top it's worth every minute of your walking is worth reaching on the top. You will definitely feel it once you are o the top. I will go again for sure.😊😊😍😍😍

Quite a steep rock face in certain areas, this monolith offers a very good trek. Challenging at times, but mostly easy, easier than Channarayana Giri behind Nandi Hills. The view from the top is absolutely spectacular, offering vistas of Bangalore, Manchanbele Reservoir and the village below. It's hard to fathom how far above the village one has walked when you peep down. It took us about one or one and a half hours to trek up, and we went at our own pace, not quickly. Descending barefoot in the afternoon is not a good idea, since the rock heats up and provides an uneven surface for your feet which may cause boils or blisters. The villagers charge 50 rupees for entry but also provide a receipt. They use this money for the laying if the roads and building gutters etc., as is clearly seen. Definitely worth giving the money if they use it to better the experience for visitors. They also have water and a washroom at the checkpoint where they collect the fees.

Climbing this monolithic hill is one of the best trek that i have done in the nearby areas of Bangalore. It gives you the experience of climbing a hill which has very less to hold for support. You have to use your own intellect to figure out the way to climb. At the same time once you climb the tricky places it gives you great satisfaction. The amazing view starts from the half of trek, and keeps on getting better as you climb. And at the top view, calmness and the great feeling of completion makes you want to stay longer. Start your trek in the morning around 7, keep a water bottle with you (at least 1 bottle per person) if you get hungry easily I'd suggest to keep some eatables also. Avoid visiting the place during rainy season.
