This is such a nice place to spend leisure time with your family. You should know the following things before you go. It is the largest soilbuild dam in India . In fact the second largest in Asia. You will have to pay an entrance fee of 30 rupees for adult and 10 rupees for children. Parking for four wheelers and two wheelers are available separately. You have to walk approximate 250 metres to reach the stairs. You have an option for bus it will cost you 10 rupees, for kids and aged persons it is good. You can have boating, zipline excetra as other activities. You can see the real beauty of nature and the dam is surrounded by mountains. It will be very bad if you go during noon time. If it is a sunny day I would prefer you go before 10 a.m. or after 4 pm. You can see the solar panels being attached to the roof of an area. The entrance on the left side, i.e, the staircase is closed. You can take me as many picture as you can. Very good place at...
Read moreAfter you park your car you need to get entry tickets and you can either trek up to the dam. Nearly 1km. Or they have bus and jeep services to get there.. Bus charges 10rs per person for a one way ride. Jeep charges 100rs for a two way ride for max 5 people.
Once you get to the top entertainment available here: Horse riding - it's usual strutting. Good for the kids. And good photo-op. Speedboat - plan ahead to get tickets on time. We were denied ticket at 1130 because the slot were full for until 0230. Only a group of 5 can go on a speedboat for 750rs for a 15min ride. Tugboat - takes 20 people at a time for 1600rs. Ride time 15mins. VR rides - this is a must try. 100rs for approximately 3mins ride but super fun and a new experience. It also has swings and few other things for the kids. And overall a good place for photography. A lot of content for Instagram.

Read moreVery frankly the dam was not anything spectacular or a must see because of the following reasons: Summer, so heat is always a deterrent The water in the reservoir was less, again due to dry season. However there are still things to try out like speedboat ride (yes, there is still enough water for a short ride at the time of writing), which is INR 900 for 5 people or so. For the next level adventurers, there is a zip line which is longest in Waynad. There are still good views to be seen from different directions. I'm sure post monsoon the place would give you a different feel and views would be worth it. There are no restaurants within the dam area, so better come here after a heavy meal and with a hat/ cap. There is a place to buy bottled water and juice, so you can keep...
