Chowara Beach is a pristine and secluded beach in Thiruvananthapuram that is famous for its fishing spots. It is a picturesque spot and regularly attracts picnickers. The sand is considered as golden colour sands. One can enjoy the sunset here. Early morning walks are also pleasant. A number of tourists enjoy sunbathing here.
It is a palm fringed beach and also has a stretch of rocky terrain adjacent to Ayyappa Temple. One can also see a number of colourful fishing boats here.
Chowara or Chowra Beach stretches from Manaltheeram/Somatheeram to Poovar Island resort and is a long sandy fisherman's beach that can have strong surf in the monsoon season and after storms.
Chowara, just 6-km south of Vizhinjam and the main Kovalam Beach, is a fishing village. It has a long stretch of white sanded quiet beach. (Chowara Beach) It being a fishing village, it is a common and delightful sight that eagles and kites circling above the sea near the beach.
The beach is a "working" beach, which means that locals who live beside it frequent it.
The Chowara Ayyappa Temple nearby gives an even better view of the beach from its immaculate hilltop location. Visitors also have the option of visiting the Azhimalathara Beach nearby.
The sea recedes from the coast here and does not eat into the beach during the Monsoon. One can explore the secluded beaches around here on a rented scooter to get the heady feel of the surreal mix of undeveloped Malayali fishing villages and sumptuous wellness retreats.
The beach is open throughout the year. Accommodation facilities of various standards are available on the Chowara beach. Visitors can choose from old Kerala cottages, renowned heritage hotels and Ayurvedic resorts.

Parking was difficult because of the crowd, had to walk around 2km to where I parked my car. Two wheelers won't have this problem.
