Chunayammakkal Waterfalls is a serene and lesser-known destination located near Munnar in Kerala, surrounded by lush greenery and breathtaking landscapes. Tucked away in the village of Pothupara along the Muthirapuzha River, this hidden gem offers visitors a tranquil retreat far from the bustling tourist spots. The cascading waters, combined with the natural beauty of the surrounding forests and tea gardens, create a picturesque setting that feels like stepping into a nature lover's paradise.

Reaching the waterfalls involves a scenic trek through dense greenery, making it an appealing destination for trekking enthusiasts and adventure seekers. The journey itself is as captivating as the destination, with panoramic views and the soothing sounds of nature accompanying travelers along the way. The waterfall's untouched beauty and peaceful ambiance make it a perfect spot for those looking to unwind and connect with nature.

The area around the falls provides an excellent opportunity for photography, offering stunning backdrops that capture the essence of Kerala's natural charm. Visitors often take a moment to dip their feet into the cool, refreshing waters at the base of the falls, enjoying the soothing relief it offers. Picnicking near the waterfalls is another favorite activity for those who want to spend more time soaking in the serene environment.

What makes Chunayammakkal Waterfalls unique is its seclusion, as it is relatively untouched by commercialization. This ensures that visitors can enjoy a more intimate and peaceful experience, away from the crowds that often flock to more popular tourist attractions. However, due to its remote location, it is important to plan ahead and be mindful of the terrain, especially during the monsoon season when access may be more challenging.

Overall, Chunayammakkal Waterfalls is a hidden treasure that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, adventure, and tranquility for those seeking an offbeat experience...

Visiting Chunayanmakkal Waterfalls was a truly refreshing experience. Located about 18 km from Munnar, the drive itself is a treat, passing through lush valleys, spice gardens, and small tribal hamlets. It feels like a journey into a quieter, untouched side of Munnar.

We reached the falls when there was very little crowd, which made it even more special. The place is serene, clean, and surrounded by thick greenery. We simply sat there for a while, gazing at the water tumbling over the rocks, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. It’s one of those rare spots where you feel time slow down.

What makes this place unique is that it’s still a hidden gem less commercialized compared to the popular waterfalls in Munnar. There are no big facilities here, just a few small vendors selling fruits or refreshments nearby. For adventure lovers, there’s also a thrilling zipline experience across the area, but for us, just enjoying the calm view was enough.

The best time to visit is during the day, between morning and evening hours, when the falls look their best and the place feels safe. The terrain is a bit rough, so jeeps or two-wheelers are usually preferred to reach here. During monsoons, the rocks can get slippery and the water flow gets stronger, so extra caution is needed. Also, since mobile signals are weak in this area, it’s better to go with friends or family rather than alone.

Overall, Chunayanmakkal Waterfalls is perfect for anyone looking to escape the crowds and spend some quiet time in nature. Whether you’re seeking solitude, photography spots, or a touch of adventure, this place...

One of the standout features of this waterfall is its relatively unexplored charm, which adds to its allure. It’s not as commercialized as other attractions in Munnar, which means fewer crowds and a more intimate connection with nature. However, the lack of nearby facilities might require visitors to plan ahead and carry essentials.
