Good Parking arrangement at site. Water insufficient in the river. Crowd control over the bridge was not effective. They should have permitted moving crowd by controlling exit way also. Should not allow devotees to stay back at Thiruvanchira and adjascent area for more time.This caused unnecessary delay for devotees to reach the shrine at Akkare Kottiyoor. They waited for long hours this time on and off the bridge area.Specially during heavy rush. Volunteers should move the crowd till exit point. Read moreKottiyoor Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kerala. Located in Kannur district and is about 50 km from another famous temple in Wayanad; Thirunelly Mahavishnu Temple. We drive from Thirunelly to visit and have a blessed darshan at Kottiyoor.
Actually, there are two temples in Kottiyoor, namely; Akkare Kottiyoor and Ikkara Kottiyoor on either side of Bavali river. Akkare Kottiyur opens only during the Kottiyoor Vaisakha Maholsavam festival only (May-June).
Ikkara Temple opens for all and has regular poojas and rituals. The settings of Akkara Kottiyoor is so beautiful that we want to come back again to be present during the Vaisakha Moholsavam in May-June 2024.
