Yesterday, my friends and I decided to take a spontaneous bike trip to the mesmerizing Madammakkulam Waterfalls. The monsoon season was in full swing, and we were eager to experience the falls in all their rainy glory.

We set off in the afternoon, our bikes cutting through the misty air. The journey was exhilarating as we navigated the rain-soaked roads, surrounded by lush greenery. The cool wind and the occasional splash of rain added to the thrill, making us feel alive and free.

After a couple of hours of riding through scenic landscapes and quaint villages, we finally reached the entrance to the falls. We parked our bikes and started the trek along a narrow, muddy trail that led into the dense forest. The rain had made the path slippery, but the adventure only added to our excitement.

As we neared Madammakkulam, the sound of the waterfall grew louder, a powerful and constant roar that drowned out everything else. The sight that greeted us was nothing short of breathtaking. The waterfall, swollen by the monsoon rains, cascaded down with immense force, creating a misty veil that enveloped the entire area.

We couldn't resist the urge to get closer. We carefully made our way to the base of the falls, the cool spray refreshing us after the long ride. Standing there, with the water crashing down and the mist swirling around us, we felt a deep connection to nature. The sheer power and beauty of the falls were humbling.

We spent the rest of the evening exploring the area, taking photos, and simply enjoying each other's company. As the sky darkened, we reluctantly decided it was time to head back. The return journey was quieter, each of us lost in our thoughts, reflecting on the day's adventure.

Riding back through the rain, with the memory of Madammakkulam fresh in our minds, we felt a sense of fulfillment. It had been a perfect day, a blend of thrill, beauty, and camaraderie. Our bike trip to Madammakkulam Waterfalls will always be remembered as a magical monsoon adventure, a testament to the wonders that await when you take the road...

A secluded serine waterfall from the crowd located deep inside the Ashley Estate area. The roads are pretty rough for normal cars and scooters. The off-road area lasts for about 10km. Can be approached easily with any car with a ground clearance of atleast 200mm(if you don't mind getting scratched by the bushes). I went in a Hyundai creta which couldn't climb the last 1km of the route which could only be covered in a 4x4. The path from kuttikanam is being renovated and hope to see a full fledged tarred road soon.

The waterfall is safe (except during heavy rainfall). A person who is 5 feet tall can easily move around without knowing swimming.

The rocks are pretty slippery and sharp. So avoid doing unwanted things.

P.S : Do not get fooled by Google maps, as it shows multiple routes from wagamon. The only route is...

Awesome experience. I went there after doing off road drive thro' Urumbikara hills in jeep. Along with my friends.its a very good Waterfall for swimming but great retreat after the drive. you can swim in the pond. The waterfall is situated near to the summer palace of British and old kings .Lot of history untold is hiding still , the unforeseen territory is magnificent with the waterfall and natural pond. Dont forget to take food if you are going for one day. Reach there before afternoon. It was fun. I guess August, September, October will be the best months to visit this...

Mamalakandam is a village located around 32 km from Kothamangalam taluk in Ernakulam district.[1][2] It is located with an average elevation of 1200 meters above sea level.[3][4] The village became a known tourist attraction in Kothamangalam Taluk, after some vloggers posted the village's government high school photo in social media, that has the Elampassery waterfall in the backdrop.[5] Mamalakandam
