Tent Camping Experience with Campper
My recent tent camping experience, organized by Campper, was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived at the site, located on the picturesque Tyford Tea Estate road, the journey itself was a visual treat. The lush green tea plantations that surrounded us were a sight to behold. The last stretch of 1-2 kilometers was off-road, which added to the excitement. The mist and fog, combined with the cold climate, made the drive truly memorable, giving us a sense of adventure as visibility dropped.
Upon arrival, the campsite was enveloped in fog, enhancing the serene and peaceful atmosphere. The tent camping setup was excellent, offering a cozy and comfortable experience. Though the food was not gourmet, it was of good quality considering the intimate size of the camp, and it complemented the overall experience well.
One of the highlights was the night walking from the dining area back to our tents under the warm glow of the camp's lights, surrounded by the mist, was a scene straight out of a storybook. We truly embraced the cold climate, and it became part of the adventure.
The next morning, we embarked on a trekking adventure, which was both exhilarating and refreshing. The true healing moment, however, came when we sat in front of the breathtaking Mathama Pond waterfalls, and later, took a deep bath in a nearby check dam. These moments in nature were not only rejuvenating but also spiritually uplifting.
Our trip ended on a high note as we spotted deer on our way back through the reserve forest, a rare and special experience that made the mountains seem like they were calling us back. Throughout the trip, our site guide, Sangeeth, was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable, ensuring that we had a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Overall, this camping experience was truly memorable, filled with natural beauty, adventure, and tranquility. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape...
Read moreLocation and approach: This is located near vagamon inside TYFORD tea estate. The approach road is mostly tarmac but the last bit ( maybe 2km ) is jeep trail, but I will consider it beginner level off-road. We went as a couple on the Himalayan 411, it felt like a magic carpet ride!. If you are coming by car then you might want to talk to the host about it. Property: This property has two parts the ' reception' is where the dining hall, kitchen and the staff quaters are located and the actual camp site is a 300m walk from this reception area. Facilities: There are a couple of clean western toilets available ( common). Don't expect to take bath there. The tents in the camp are fairly new and well maintained. Network/connectivity: The mobine network is minimal to non-existent. There are some network hotspots which the host will guide you. The reception area has wifi connection which is great. The camp site itself is almost completely devoid of connectivity. Food: Basic hygienic food will be prepared by the host according to your needs. THE HIGHLIGHTS : The view from the camp site ! It is spectacular and we were especially lucky that there was minimal mist/fog when we visited. We thoroughly enjoyed the glorious sunset ! The next day morning we set out on a trek at around 630 am. The places we visited were , view point, nearby waterfall, check dam and kurinji flower meadow. This was a guided trek by our host The host ( Sangeet ) took extra effort to make us feel home and even offered us the tents at the reception area if we are not comfortable staying alone at the camp site. Lot of effort went in starting the camp fire as the twigs were damp due to the weather. Definitely coming...
Read moreFor the first time, I am writing a negative review.
After reading the reviews, we, a team of five, booked the camp for Feb 1 , 2022 by paying half of the total amount. After driving through the rocky roads, when we finally arrived at the destination, we were welcomed by a couple of young gentlemen. They asked us to leave the vehicle on the road itself where there were absolutely no surveillance. There was no parking space for our vehicle, even though we were the only guests on that day. We were given a copy of the camp rules which we refused to sign as the conditions given in that were worse than any jail.
Camp site was still another 300m from the reception, which was poorly maintained. We were told that because of the presence of dogs coming out to the campsite, they cannot deliver the dinner to the camp site. However, they said they will prepare and give us the BBQ at the camp site. We could not understand the logic. They said they cannot prepare the BBQ at the campsite, but will only deliver there.
Overall, we found that the place was not safe and clean, staff was not friendly and there were nobody responsible for the inconveniences.
So, we decided to cancel the booking. They charged us Rs. 2700 which includes the cost of BBQ, wood for the camp fire which we did not use and the food (even for the next day) and promised us to pay back the balance amount. Yes, they paid the balance amount.
I would say, somehow, we managed to escape from that place and had a wonderful night at a...
