Malamel Para: A Tranquil Hilltop Retreat Near Kottarakkara Perched serenely atop a hill near Kottarakkara, Malamel Para offers a delightful escape into nature's embrace, complemented by a strong sense of peace and spirituality. While primarily known for its association with the revered Malamel Temple (Malamel Palli), the site is equally captivating for its breathtaking panoramic views, making it a must-visit for both pilgrims and nature enthusiasts alike. Located approximately 11-12 kilometers from Kottarakkara, Malamel Para is easily accessible, and the journey itself offers glimpses of rural Kerala's charm. As you ascend, the air grows fresher, and the sounds of the bustling world fade away, replaced by a profound sense of calm. The "Malamel Para Side View Spot" and "Malamel Temple Paara" are key points of interest, both offering expansive vistas of the surrounding landscape. From the summit, you are treated to a magnificent spectacle: rolling green hills, a tapestry of coconut groves, and distant villages stretching to the horizon. It's an ideal spot for photography, contemplation, or simply unwinding amidst the gentle breeze. The opening hours, typically from morning till late afternoon (around 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM), allow ample time to soak in the tranquility. Whether you're seeking spiritual solace at the temple or simply yearning for a quiet moment surrounded by natural beauty, Malamel Para delivers a truly refreshing and...

The most loving place near home.!! I Dony know many beautiful, happy and of course sad moments are also celebrated here!! The view of more than 180 degree landscape is amazing.!! The beautiful sunset and breeze we can enjoy here is an another mark of here.!! The one big rock just above the main temple is the first and nearby to all who come to Malamel. The another rock which comes after the first left path just before making footstep to the temple side is a comparetively flat but easily approachable and less crouded one and obviously with nice view. The other one just opposite the above said comparetively flat rock is the most amazing spot in this malamel para which is also known as Nadukanippara. A radio antena and destroyed building is also there.. There is around 10-15 walk/hike is there from the main road to this rock. If you are able to walk this Nadukanippara is a must visit...

Malamel is a village in Pathanapuram Taluk in Kollam district, Kerala, India. This village is situated between Anchal and Valakom by-pass road. In Malayalam language Malamel means "Top of the hill

At Malamel, there is a huge rock on which there is a famous Shiva Temple. Temple festival is held on 3 December. The temple has 5 doors and is considered to be divine and ancient because of the close proximity of Jadayupara (Chadayamangalam) (the rock that Jadayu carried on his wings). It has also a cave at extreme left of the temple, into which a British Adventurer in the year 1946, tried in vain to venture, and which leads to the Kulathupuzha Forest. This cave is believed to be a haven for very venomous snakes. Famous temples like Arackal Devi Temple and Perumannur Devi Temple are nearby.Kottarakara Sree Mahaganapathy Kshethramis 12 km away.

These hills were once under the threat of being destroyed by the quarry lobby. The local people raised their voices against it and over time, their perseverance paid off. The quarry lobby had to step down and that perhaps is the reason why we are able to see Malamel as it is now. We take a trip through this hilly terrain to see what makes Malamel special. There is a narrow cave-like divide that separates Nadappara and Nadukanippara. A trek between these rocks will make you hold your breath for a second. Apart from the stunning view, the cold breeze that flows in from the dense sandalwood trees brings with it the fragrance of sandalwood and lemon grass that grows in the meadows. Beyond it is Malamel, a tiny hamlet where the skies are kissing the land, eternally.
