Good place to visit with children - has children's park, boating and fishing facilities. 'Flying fishes' is newly introduced attraction and will provide real fun and excitement. The entry fee covers welcome drink, good homely meal with fish curry, icecream and preliminary boating but you have to pay extra for witnessing 'flying fishes'. Also you have to pay extra for each fish catching stick.
FLYING FISHES: This is one of the unique attraction here. For this the organizers had grown 'milk fish' (poo meen) up to 1kg in two big fields. The special feature of milk fish is that they jump out of water when there is enough disturbances on the water. Two boats with the visitors will be driven into the fields circling continuously will make the fishes jump out of water continuously which is excellent to witness. 1.Always GO TO THE FISH FIELDS WITH 2 BOATS.If u have viewers that can be accommodated in one boat, just wait. It worth the wait as one boat does not make enough impact to make the fish fly enough. 2.The water level in fish fields are approximately 1 meter. So organizers will say no need for life jacket. DEMAND LIFE JACKETS 4 KIDS. Safety comes first. 3.Fish may jump into ur boat and may hit you. Don't panick - fish above 1 kg are removed from the field regularly so it may not cause impact on u even if it hits.
FISHING STICKS: You will get enough fish-catching-sticks with its prey (made mixing wheat flour with turmeric powder). With the type of hook and prey u will get good no of 'green chromide' (kari meen) fishes. However people may find it difficult to catch unless u have experience. Some tips r given below 1.Never try to catch fish in clear water - choose the dark waters / where u have shade 4 catching the same. 2.Put the prey on hook as little as possible. 3.Observe those who are catching the fish closely and do it in same place and same style if u fail continuously in your attempts. BE CAREFUL, the hooks when taken out of water suddenly, can strike the nearby / kids.

Read moreTo be honest. There isn't much to see here. The activities at this place are Jumping fish. Rowing boat, paddle boat, fishing and a mini mangrove forest where you can click a couple of good pictures.
Once I got there they had informed me that there aren't a lot many fishes as before after the Kerala flood. The main fish there is milkfish also known as poomeen.
The jumping fish activity is the team would take you on a boat around the lake and would trigger the water which would make the milkfish jump out of the water which is a great sight to see. Unfortunately not too many fishes there to jump. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful sight to see.
Fishing is just a waste of time and money. They would give you maida as bait and a rod and you can try fishing along the edges of the lake. You can go up to any point and fish. If you are lucky you might get a fish or two. I wasn't fortunate enough after I spent an hour. The point is there aren't so many fishes there to catch.
If you find peddle boating or row boating a fun activity to do then you should try it. But if it's a hot sunny day I would not recommend the activity.
The food served is pretty good. Fish curry meals, this consist of rice, fish curry(one piece of milkfish), 2 sabzi and prawn pickle ( I suppose, the menu keeps changing). After lunch you get an ice cream and in the evening you get chai or coffee with a snack.
Then we have the mini mangrove forest which is a good place to relax. And click pictures.
I feel there is a lot this place can improve on. RN the quality of service is bad and this is mainly because of lack of tourists at this place and the management has no money to make things better. Over all 2 rating and I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they ramp up the place and...
