Today, I visited this temple, and it was an amazing place with a good atmosphere. Temple-wise, I was totally impressed. However, during the Archana, I noticed something concerning inside the temple. Usually, in other temples, the priest prays for us inside the Sreekovil, mentioning our name and birth star as stated in the Archana receipt. But here, the priest didn’t even go inside the Kovil. Instead, he went to the backside, took some prasadam without offering any prayers, and then came to the front to hand it over to us. I honestly didn’t understand what kind of rituals they were following, and I wasn’t satisfied with the process. I wonder if others have noticed this too. Can someone please clarify the actual rituals behind this? Or is it some kind of scam?

This is one of the very ancient three Bhadrakali temples where Devi is seen as the protector of the region. Three Bhadrakali temples include Thirumaandhamkunnu(Malappuram Dist), Kodungallur Sri Kurumba(Thrissur Dist) and Panayannarkavu(Pathanamthitta Dist). These three temples were said to be consecrated by Parasurama himself and are supposed to protect north(Thirumandhamkunnu), middle(Kodungallur) and southern(Panayannarkavu) Kerala respectively. Recently because of various reasons Panayannarkavu is not much in limelight but the deity is equally powerful as that of the other two. Many mystic tales of Yakshis also relates to the temple. It has reference in Kottarathil Sankunni's Aithihyamala. Nearest is the temple town of Mannar which is well known for Metal industries related to Odu(a bronze like esoteric metal alloy used for making vessels used for traditional rituals and cooking). Parumala church is another attraction which a well known pilgrimage centre for Christian community. Nearest railway station is at Thiruvalla. Buses plies all throughout...
