We reached Mandav from Maheshwar by 5 p.m. and went straight to Rani Rupmati Palace. There was not much time left and we had paid INR 25/vistor at the gate that covered this Palace and Palace of Baaz Bahadur.

There was a long zigzag ramp to be scaled to reach the Palace and we availed the service of an interesting, knowledgeable and entertaining guide, Yashvant. He took us to the top and made us sit inside and narrated the saga behind the Palace.

It was actually constructed by ancestors of Raja Bhoj as an Army Post where horses were kept and a close watch was kept to safeguard territories from the enemies. Baaz Bahadur, General of Akbar also used it for the same purpose until he captured Rani Rupmati and fell in love with her vocal music skills and matchless beauty.

It is believed that she never used to consume even a droplet of water without paying reverence to Maa Narmada and if one looks from the top of this Palace, Maa Narmada is visible at a distance. The Palace has rainwater filtering and storage mechanism which is unoperational and there is a passage which is believed to be secret passage for Rani Rupmati to take royal cart toBaaz Bahadur's Palace.

The views from the top are breathtaking and sunset is just incredible to be watched from here. The garden at the top is well-manicured and fully blossoming. The Palace and the passages are well-maintained and kept clean. One may capture incredible images as timeless memories.

A must visit to walk the...

Roopmati Mahal?

Mandu Famous for its architectural jewels and historical landmarks, Mandu or Mandavgad is a popular tourist destination in Madhya Pradesh. A dream place for every historian, this picturesque city offers a memorable experience through its iconic monuments, palaces and forts.

Roopmati agreed to go to Mandu on the condition that she would live in a palace within sight of her beloved and venerated river, Narmada. Thus was built the Rewa Kund at Mandu. Mughal Akbar decided to conquer Mandu. Akbar sent Adham Khan to capture Mandu and Baz bahadur went to challenge him with his small army.He fell in love with the beautiful Hindu shepherdess called Roopmati and also build the Rewa Kund which is a reservoir built by Baz Bahadur at Mandu, equipped with an aqueduct to The Narmada. Mughals defeated him and captured his Hindu queen Roopmati, who killed herself at this turn of events. Mandu is perhaps best known for the poignant love story of Baz Bahadur, the last independent ruler of Mandu, and his beloved consort, Rani Roopmati. Their romance is immortalised in the architectural wonders that...

This place is remnants of Rani Roopmati's regime.About 70 km from Indore. It is connected by a motorable road. Good time to visit is during winter otherwise this has a harsh season especially in summers. The place is picturesque and has deep valleys around. The road is very narrow as we approach the dilapidated fort. Take precautions while driving as there are sharp blind turns around. Honk while driving on sharp turns. There is entrance fee to every major monument. Parking is available at all places either within the precincts or outside. Refreshments are available near Jama Maszid.Toilets are available separately for gents and ladies. The road from Rupmatis Pavillion further connects to Dhamnod on Mumbai-Indore Highway while the entrance to the Fort is from Dhar Side. The road to Dhamnod is very narrow and its recommended to use GPS to avoid wrong roads. Dhamnod is...

Rani Rupmati's Mahal is Super Gorgeous as soon as you enter there's a aisle and it's just gorgeous as well the terrace area, the Views from here are just breathtaking and the garden omg!!! Everything here is very beautiful ❤️ Now comes the ticket price for entering the Mahal it's just 25 per person for Indian Residence and for the Foreigners it's 300 Per head ( Bit Expensive ) And they charge extra for the Cameras everywhere here which I think is preety invalid as it doesn't make any sense and drones are literally a big no near any Historical places but if you still want to fly a drone and take some pictures or Videos you can take it from somewhere else. You can also find snacks at the entrance and something's to buy from a (very Small Market). One more thing is there's no Parking Charges soo it's good 👍 Hope you found it helpful.

Originally built as a watchtower by Baz Bahadur overlooking the Nimar Valley and later used by Rani Rupmati to view the sacred river Narmada. On a clear day you can view Narmada river from this place. The palace is not exactly in a good shape and only the outer walls of the palace are standing today while much of it is in ruins. Its located at approx distance of 5-6 kms from Mandu city which is accessible by roads which are in good condition, parking is available at the base of palace and is free of cost. Do note that to reach the palace you have to walk down from parking area which is a steep road and can take 15-20min, can be bit challenging for senior citizens and differently abled. Overall a good place to enjoy the views of the Nimar Valley and experience the architectural marvels of Mandu👍🏻

Rani Roopmati Pavilion or Rani Rupmati Ka Mahal is located on a small hill of Mandu. The entry ticket is Rs 25 per person and children below 15 are free. There is ample parking available at the base of the Pavilion. You have to Climb up and see the picturesque scenery. It is recommended to visit this place during winters Nov to Feb as otherwise it will be warm. It was built by Baz Bahadur for Roopmati to let her have the view of sacred Narmada river daily in the morning before starting her day. Whenever weather not used to be clear she would see Rewa Kund near this pavilion specially built for this purpose. Take care of young children here as this place is not safe for kids.
