Lets be precise, Trying this kinda post for the first time. Suggestions will be appreciated 🥂 Time of Visit : September 2021 - ( start. 7:30am End - 4:30pm) Weather : Moist Details : First and foremost - The travel is from Bramhagiri to durg bhandar and monkeys have 2 spots. One is halfway to Bhamhagiri and then the second near the temple. Please carry sticks (there are people selling sticks in case you don't have your own). All this precise details because I did get bitten by Monkey on the way up. 2. Carry enough water for yourself and an extra. The trek will get tiresome post bramhagiri. The dog spot is near the plateau of bramhagiri temple itself. Do visit it's a road that goes even higher and then the width goes on becoming smaller until a single man lane. Don't overwalk as the edge has a steep depth. 3. To reach Durg bhandar you'll have to walk past the Jatashankar temple. It's a small route and damp hence slippery. 4. Once you reach the steps gain as much relaxation as you can. Cz there's descend and ascend together. The steps are pretty tall for an average heighted human ( I am 6.4) The path between the ascend and decend us small but picturistique just be a little more careful. Once you reach the top on the other side the grass is taller and there is a sound of crickets in millions can be heard. Carry speakers along and keep them on low volume as I saw boards that said music not allowed aa it's a fort and a govt area. Also there was a bee attack that we faced when we reached the Waterbody of durg bhandar. Good places to drink leamonade with good taste. 😅 Enjoy the trek and do let me know about any new findings. Monkey : They are hungry in the morning and will open bags. Keep your pockets empty thou. Thats the first place they feel there is food for them. Keep locks on bags cz they're smart enough to sit on your head and open it like a pro. I got caught off-guard and I snapped . I am giving this place a 4 stars just because of my experience. Please carry a garbage bag along and clean the area as much as you can and ensure you don't litter at all. 💟

Durgbhandar is a fort or sub-fort of Brahmagiri fort, there are no separate references to it. The reference to the Brahmagiri fort is the same as the reference to the Durgbhandar fort. Considering the style of construction of the Bramhagiri fort, this fort may have been built during the Satvahana period but the history of the fort is known from the Yadav period. During 1271-1308, this area was ruled by King Ramdevrai Yadav. There is a narrow road connecting Bhandardurg and Brahmagiri. At the very end of Trimbakgad, there is a beautiful footpath carved in the rock to reach the fort, but it is not visible until you get very close. There is a 6 to 8 feet wide trench more than 100 feet deep in the rock and about 55 steps of one and a half feet height are carved to descend into it. An idol of Hanuman is carved at the beginning of the steps. Going down these steps, you see a small door. This door is partially buried in the soil, so you have to crawl your way out. After crossing this gate, we exit the Brahmagiri fort and reach the narrow road which connects to the other fort. The passage is a natural wall of about 350 feet long and about 8 to 10 feet wide, with a straight edge of 500 feet on either side of the wall. You have to be careful while crossing this path. After crossing this path, there is another small door like the one you crossed earlier. This gate of the fort is also partially buried in the soil, so it has to be crossed by crawling. Once inside, the path starts climbing once again. By climbing these steps we reach the top of the fort. The fort is located at an altitude of 3980 feet above sea level and is spread over an area of 5 acres from south to north. The fort is standing in front of the trunk of Brahmagiri.

Durg Bhandar is easy-to-climb fort – trekking to this fort will be the best experience for everyone this winter. It is situated near Trimbakeshwar and one has to climb Bramhagiri hills to reach there. Walking on the wall between Bramhagiri Hills and Durg Bhandar will be the adventurous part of this trek which will lead you rock-cut steps on the Durg Bhandar. From the top, one can witness the picturesque view of Temples in the Trimbakeshwar area. Durg Bhandar lies in Nashik region near in Trimbakeshwar and part of Brahmagiri mountain. Durg Bhandar or Bhandar Durg is more sort of a watchtower. The main attraction here is the deep rock cut steps which goes deep inside from Brahmagiri mountain the fissure and comes out in natural bridge and again goes up the fissure to Durg Bhandar. Apart from this Brahmagiri is also the source of Godavari river which flows towards east and meets Bay of Bengal. Durg Bhandar has a unique shape as it is like a cubicle and seperated from main mountain by the natural rock bridge. Reaching Durg Bhandar is very easy and one has to first go Brahmagiri then from there the route starts to Durg Bhandar from Shiv Jata Temple. While climbing one can experience the beauty of such structure as well as the history of such a place. Way to Durg Bhandar starts from a temple of Shiv Jata where the route passes through the west side of mountain. the trail is easy and well defined. It takes straight towards the rock fissure where the steps are carved.

Durg Bhandar Fort - Nashik Miracle of rock cut stairs.

This is a fort near Trimbakeshwar, and is a part of the Brahmagiri mountain range. Durg Bhandar, also known as Bhandar Durg, is actually a watchtower. The deep rock cut steps that go deep inside the fissure from Brahmagiri mountain, emerge in a natural bridge, and then go up the fissure to Durg Bhandar are the main attraction here.

In addition, Brahmagiri is the source of the Godavari River, which flows east and meets the Bay of Bengal. Durg Bhandar is shaped like a cubicle and is connected to the main mountain by a natural rock bridge.

To go to Durg Bhandar, one must first travel to Brahmagiri, from whence the journey to Durg Bhandar begins from Shiv Jata Temple. Climbing allows one to take in the beauty of the building as well as the history of the location.

In 1752 A.D., Trimbak Suryaji Prabhu conquered the fort of Durg Bhandar and included it in the Peshwa kingdom. In 1818 A.D., the British took over the fort.Durg Bhandar is a part of the Bramhagiri fort but has gained its own identity. It is said that Durg Bhandar was used as a storage place for the arms and ammunitions required for the protection of Bramhagiri.

All ancient structures, carved idols, caverns, stairs, and temples may be seen while ascending. The trail is simple and safe, with fences and refreshments offered along the way. The hike to Brahmagiri is magnificent and gorgeous, with two entrance gates that are finely carved and a large Hanuman idol carved into the rock.

The summit plateau, which is quite spacious, is reached after climbing the stairs. The Brahmagiri plateau is home to several viewpoints and temples, as well as a lake and ruins. The plateau is stunning and serves as an entrance to Durg Bhandar. The plateau is well-protected by fencing, making it a secure place to visit.

Brahmagiri is a short hike, although it has a lot of steps.

The journey to Durg Bhandar begins at a Shiv Jata temple, passing across the west side of the mountain. The track is simple and well-marked. It leads directly to the rock fissure where the stairs have been created. The fissure begins with rock cut stairs that go down to the rock bridge. The fissure is around 100 feet deep and beautifully carved. The stairs or fissure is constructed in such a manner that it cannot be seen from any direction from the base and is only apparent when one approaches it. This is an excellent and clever approach to conceal and hide from the opponent. It’s no surprise that it was such a powerful watchtower.

There is a tiny fortification at the end of Durg Bhandar that was used to protect or keep an eye on the region. This is the ideal location for Kadelot. The peak and fort are sacred because they are located in Trimbakeshwar and are the source of the Sahyadri River.

Trimbakeshwar or the summit of Brahmagiri mountain are other good places to visit because the area is densely packed with temples. The Gorakshnath Cave in Gangadwar is located at the base of Durg Bhandar.
