This is a Sangam of Rivers Krishna and Koyana which is located 2km distance from Karad Bus Stand, 5.5 km away from Karad Railway station Road and 5 km away from Karad Airport. This place is most beautiful and peaceful. More than just a natural wonder, the Krishna-Koyana Sangam is the cultural heart of the region, hosting numerous rituals, and gathering that strengthen the bond between the people and the land. One of the most significant events held at the Krishna-Koyana Sangam is the Krishna Mai festival, celebrated annually on the last Monday of Shravan Month. During this festival, the idol of Krishna Mai is bathed , adorned with flowers, and the shrine is illuminated with lamps, creating a radiant spectacle. Devotees gather here and do Bhajans and offer Prayers to the Krishna Maa. This festival is a joyous occasion that attracts thousands of visitors, offering a lively and Vibrant celebration of faith. We have visited this Place very surprisingly. We had been to Friend home there was some delay and hence decided to visit this place and enjoyed this place natural beauty.
Interesting Facts about this Sangam The most surprising thing about this Sangam is, both Krishan and Koyana rivers originate at same place which is Mahabaleshwar and travel all over 125 km then finally joins here at this Sangam. The confluence of the Krishna and Koyana rivers is a rare natural wonder. Unlike typical river junctions where rivers flow side by side and joins as Y-Junction., here the two rivers meet head-on in a distinctive T-shape making it one of the confluences of its kind in the world. There is most beautiful natural Ghat nearby Sangam where Krishna Mai temple is there, which is Gramadevi of Karad. There is another beautiful Garden which is upper side of this Sangam. Maintained so beautifully and Yashwantrao Chavan samadhi area is also located inside this Park, which reflects on the serene Yashwantrao Samadhi Sthal This peaceful memorial garden is dedicated to the life and legacy of Yashwantrao Chavan who was prominent leader of Maharashtra. Read moreWe visited here on Sunday. There was a fair on one side. Maybe it's because it's Sunday. So it was a bit crowded. But on other days it seems that this area should not be crowded. There is a garden here which is basically called "Yashwantrao Samadhi Sthal". To the east is the same gate. There are some temples there. And to the west of the garden are some temples and there is the confluence(Sangam) of the Krishna and Koyna rivers. We reached here in the evening and surprisingly the garden and the river shore area were clean. And they have installed the audio speakers beautifully like the light lamps on the poles in the garden.
