Break the MythFinally I am here at Lavasa! And what stopped me from visiting this place for long? The good old quote proved to be right “familiarity breeds contempt”. It is something at your door step. You don’t have to trek. Entry fee is nil! So, visit the same taking your own sweet time! Also, came across many snappy and sassy reviews that do not suffice from a consumer point of view. Finally, I have decided to keep aside all sorts of diatribe and apprehension. What’s the harm in experiencing? The group of five started from Pune City at 7.30AM, had Bun Maska and Cheese Omelette from Vohuman Cafe and started our mini exodus from the hustle bustle of Punya Nagri.RouteReach Chandni Chowk (Delhiites, don’t be panic. We have Connaught Place also in Pune) and take the toll route towards Mulshi. Drive till Pirangut and from there you will get left turn towards Lavasa. This is the same route towards Panshet Dam. Only difference being, the road is well maintained and I was not able to spot any single pothole during the 40 KM trail from here. Wonder, whether we are in Pune! A word of caution – there are many U-Turns slanting upward and you may find big sized vehicle finding it difficult to maintain the left track while descending. So, it is advisable not to ape Michael Schumacher while driving. Finally, you reach the gateway of Lavasa where in you are required to give basic information and there is no entry fee. Drive in and start exploring the city. A bit of information given below might be helpful.A bit about Lavasa CityPune is a city nestled amidst of Sahyadri range. Lavasa is situated in the seven hills – that means, on the lap of Sahyadri. It is 12500 Acres (One fourth of the size of Mumbai) and is the largest conceptualized hill city of the country. Western end of the valley borders the Konkan Coastal end and eastern extend up to Warsgaon Dam Island. The city’s planning and construction is done by HCC (The very same institution behind Bhilai Steel Plant, Bandra Worli Sea Link etc.). It is INR 1400 billion project which is expected to be completed by 2020. The project also envisage building of road from Lonavla, Somatane and many other entry point that enable anyone to access the city avoiding Pune City traffic.Up on construction, the entire city can accommodate close to 1.5 Lakhs of residents with inflow of 20 Lakh tourists per annum. In short, it offers an urban life with all luxuries (with close to 15, three star – five star hotels, Management Institutes, IT Companies, Hospitals, Helipad, Theme Park, Film Production) in the lap of nature. While exploringStay You have got all luxury to drive and explore the length and breadth of the city. For those who are planning to stay, there are three facilities as of now. Ekant, Fortune Select (ITC Group) and Water Front Service Apartments. Check with Travelguru website for some good deal Lavasa a good place is not because of manmade structures but beacause of weather it offers. Why I hate Lavasa because instead of offering good standard of living in the places where people are living, they have created good standard of living in a place where no one lives. This has become a bad ghost town of its own. The lodging is extremly expensive, not worth at all. The road leading to Lavasa is in bad shape. Though it looks like a European town, in appearance and in affordability, we cannot forget that this has been created at the cost of taxpayer’s money. Instead, offer good life to people who actually need it. Few times ago we going in lavasa for enjoying vacation. Lavasa is good and beautiful place but some problems is down the level. I and my four friends so we went to the car. But in lavasa parking charge so high this is 500 ₹ for four wheeler this is very high rate, middle class family is can’t afford like this parking charge. So we pay parking charge. We are going in boat. The per head tickets is 200₹.this also high rate. Nearest hotel is very good and give good service. The place is good but whole service is very costly so middle class family is can’t afford. I am not...

My recent visit to Lavasa Lake City last week was an experience steeped in both intrigue and melancholy. Once touted as India's first planned hill city, a sprawling modern marvel designed with European flair, Lavasa today stands as a poignant reminder of grand ambitions unfulfilled. Driving into the city, the initial impression is one of stark beauty. The meticulously designed buildings, vibrant facades, and charming promenades around the Warasgaon Lake are still aesthetically pleasing, even if time and disuse have begun to leave their mark. The vision of a bustling, self-contained urban oasis is still discernible in the architecture and layout. However, the silence is what truly speaks volumes. The once-promised vibrancy is conspicuously absent. Many of the shops, restaurants, and hotels that once dotted the picturesque streets are now shuttered, their windows dusty and their doors locked. The lively cafes envisioned for the lakeside promenade are empty shells, and the water sports activities that were once a major draw are largely defunct. Walking through the deserted streets felt surreal. A few security personnel and maintenance workers were visible, but the general atmosphere was one of quiet desolation. The air, crisp and clean with the scent of the surrounding hills, carried no buzz of conversation, no laughter of tourists, no sounds of commerce. Despite the prevailing quietude, the natural beauty of the location remains undeniable. The rolling hills, the serene lake, and the well-laid-out infrastructure hint at the paradise it was meant to be. For those who appreciate urban planning, architecture, or simply a contemplative escape from the city bustle, Lavasa offers a unique, albeit bittersweet, experience. It's a place to reflect on the complexities of large-scale development and the unpredictable turns of fortune. In conclusion, my visit to Lavasa Lake City was not the lively resort experience one might expect from a "lake city." Instead, it was a quiet exploration of a dream deferred, a testament to what could have been. If you go, go with an understanding of its current state – not as a bustling tourist destination, but as a fascinating, almost haunting, relic of urban aspiration. It's a place for quiet reflection, not...

Lavasa, a planned hill station and city near Pune, is a unique and picturesque destination in India. Nestled amidst the Sahyadri mountains, Lavasa is known for its serene ambiance and scenic beauty.

The architecture and layout of Lavasa are quite distinctive, resembling an Italian town with colorful buildings, cobbled streets, and a lake in the center. This design adds a charming touch to the surroundings, making it a great place for a leisurely stroll.

Visitors can enjoy various recreational activities such as boating, water sports, and adventure sports, which make it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. There are also several restaurants and cafes serving a variety of cuisines, making it a delightful place for food lovers.

However, Lavasa has faced its share of controversies and challenges, including environmental concerns and issues related to water supply. It's essential to be aware of these aspects when visiting.

In summary, Lavasa offers a unique and scenic getaway near Pune, with a charming ambiance and a range of activities for tourists. However, it's crucial to consider the ongoing concerns associated with the development of the area when...

I always love this place for no reason. If you are wish to do any kind of photoshoot then blindly choose this place. Atmosphere and view is beautiful. Now some infrastructure is in construction also the previous infra need some maintenance. You have to pay parking charges at entry gate for 2 wheeler 200rs and 4 wheeler 400rs each. Restaurants are little bit costliest as compared to test and quality. If you are nature lover then you definitely enjoy the journey of mind blowing sceneries and Atmosphere. If you are party lover and visiting with frnds then you must stay there it has a very beautiful night sceneries. The rooms are not that much costliest you can easily get lackside room but difficult in long weekends so recommend to book befor a week. It is suitable to visit with family or friends.
