Mohini Raj Temple All the construction of the temple is a masterpiece of Hemadpanthi architecture. Each stone is engraved. Different types of idols are on the stone. The temple is ancient and its construction has been done by Ahilyabai Holkar's Diwan Shri Chandrachud Jahagirdar. The construction of the temple is high and the entrance is on the north side. At the entrance, there is a statue of a spear-wielding, chopdara. Story of the temple is, According to a legend associated to this place, at the time when the sea was churned to get nectar, Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Mohini(a beautiful and enchanting damsel) to distract the demons and deprive them of nectar. The demons stared at Mohini while Lord Vishnu distributed nectar to the gods and water to demons. Also, part of area in Newasa is called Dandakaranya. The place where Lord Ram killed Marich is now a village called Toka, named after the arrow with which Lord Rama killed Marich. Before Marich was killed by Lord Rama, he threw a Sura(Knife) towards Rama. This village is called Suregaon. After that he threw Bhala (spear), and hence that place is called Bhalgaon. Soon after that Marich shot an arrow, that place is called Banganga. At Banganga, the path of the river Godavari is shaped like a Dhanushya-Ban(Bow and arrow), so this place is called Banganga.
