Clean, natural and historic beach near Mumbai and Pune. Click on review for complete overview.
Beach is common at western Ghats in India but this is one of the clean, safe and friendly sea shore.
Here is brief review:
Time to visit: Nov to Feb is ideal time because costal areas are humid summer or October heat sweat you out and it rain here like cats and dog not even allow to walk few steps keeping you dry.
Locality: Village is professional in terms of stay only. (rooms on rent or hotels) need to bargain and DO VISIT room before booking, market is traditional you can get seasonal fruits(Jack fruit, mango, rice, kokam, dry fish etc.) and local rice at very competitive rates.
Safty: This is completely cozy still fully safe place we have never seen an incident of teasing, ugly glance, man handling or abuse. I have seen girls roaming late night. This is really appriciated
Cash based economy: Here cash is the power. No matter now much credit limit you have on card 99%hotels and all resturants ask for cash only. There are 2 ATM near beach but carry approx 2000 INR per person if you are going for rides and food out here.
Food: We have visited almost 6 to 8 big resturants available here. The professional management is completely missing, test is not consistent same dish changes test at each repeat order. Locals here do not have breakfast concept, there is not a single decent place have at least 5+ breakfast options served. Coffee is alien word here and you have to look around hard for a decent cup of tea. Surprisingly there are anly 2 coconut water stall near this beach.
Fish / seafood: Sea food lovers can think to enjoy seafood, but seafood is rather costly than Mumbai or even Pune. Fish is fresh but be ready have a big hole on pocket of you order seafood.
Concluding all Hotels here offer small kitchen setup, you must carry semi prepared or prepared food or prefer package food.
What to do: We can isolate ourselves here to rest, you can visit fort, Beach not many places around to visit. If you can travel 30 to 50 km there are more places to visit. You can enjoy rides,...
Read moreMurud Beach is a canvas where nature weaves a tale of contrasts, revealing its majesty in unexpected ways. This beach may not boast the powdery sands of a postcard-perfect resort, nor the hustle and bustle of a bustling tourist hub. Instead, it's a place that beckons those who appreciate the subtler, more nuanced aspects of nature's beauty.
Upon arrival, you'll notice the shoreline's coarse, dark sands, unlike the typical pristine beaches. The crowd here is relatively sparse compared to more popular destinations, which can be both a pro and a con. It lacks the commercial buzz that some may seek, but this very solitude becomes a unique selling point for those yearning for tranquility.
Yet, it's important to remember that Murud Beach is not about what it lacks; it's about what it offers in abundance. The true magic of Murud Beach emerges during sunset. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky transforms into a vivid canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples. The reflection on the gentle waves is nothing short of mesmerizing. This is when Murud Beach transcends its ordinary aspects and becomes extraordinary.
The views from the beach are captivating. The beachside fort, Murud Janjira, stands as a sentinel to history, its weathered walls telling tales of bygone eras. Watching the waves gently caress the fort's foundations is a moment that connects you to the sands of time.
The local cuisine, especially the fresh seafood, adds a delicious dimension to the experience. Savoring a plate of fish curry and rice while gazing at the horizon becomes a memorable affair.
In the end, Murud Beach isn't for everyone. It's for those who seek beauty beyond the obvious, for those who understand that nature's charm often lies in its subtlety. So, if you appreciate a beach that offers solitude, historical intrigue, and an unforgettable sunset, then Murud Beach is a hidden treasure that awaits your discovery. It's a place where the sun's descent turns the ordinary into the extraordinary, and where nature's quiet whispers echo louder than the crowd's...
Read moreWe finished visiting the fort in the designated 45 mins. Then started the trauma of climbing into the return boat. Since the boarding and disembarking point is the same, when we went to board the return boat some 300+ people were pushing their way to get in it. Many got wet till above the knees. Some people fell as soon as they got into the boat, some lost balance outside the boat, on the water-filled steps of the fort. All this happened after waiting for an hour or so,body stuck to each other in a crowd. The horrible experience can scarcely be described in words.
Of all the forts in Maharastra, this one is the most hyped and terribly managed, infact no management or system at all. Those who can push the best, get into the boat. Most disgraceful experience.
Yet I can assure myself that there was no loss of life or limbs in the journey I undertook. Perhaps the authorities (if there are any) are waiting for a Catastrophe to take place before they introduce some management for a safe to n fro in Murud Janjira.
People reading this review can safely skip this fort as it's not worth the pain and disgrace. Yet many would like to visit and experience it themselves. Feel bad in writing an awful review thinking about the folks who make a...
